Anna's POV.

I lean against the wall of the warehouse. I lick my lips. It's cold. I only have a sweater and some mittens I brought with. I look at the time. It's almost midnight.

I turn back to the window. I see Jace walking out of the warehouse. I accidentally move, making noise.

"Oh no," I whisper. I close my eyes.

"Anna?" Jace mumbles.

I open my eyes. "No?"

Jace walks up to me, and sees me closer in light. His eyes widen. "What the fuck are you doing here?" He asks.

"It's stupid. I'm sorry. I gotta go," I shake my head. I turn around. My heart racing. I'm scared of him. Frankly, at this point I'm not sure if my crush on him is gone or not.

He grabs my arm and pulls me back. "You're gonna be honest with me. Did you see what went on?" He points. I gulp.

"Be honest!"

I nod. "Jace, why'd he-"

"OH FUCK!" He shouts. He runs his hands through his hair. "We're fucked, Peyton."

I squint my eyes. "I won't tell anyone, I promise!"

"You bet you won't. Because if you do, I have a gang that can fuck you up and end you. Okay? Got me babe?" He threats.

I look in his chocolate brown eyes. I slowly nod. "Y-Yeah. I promise I won't. You can trust me. You really can," I say.

He scoffs. "Yeah, not many people have my trust anymore, Anna. You don't understand my life. After seeing that, that's not even a portion of it," He points. He reaches into his coat pocket. He takes out a pack of cigarettes and a lighter. He sticks one between his lips and covers the end. I see the flame flash in his eyes. He takes a long drag.

I lick my lips. "I gotta get home. I'm gonna get in major trouble. This was just dumb. I'm not even sure why I did this," I shake my head.

"How'd you find this place?" He asks, flicking the cigarette.

I look up at him. "I saw some guys text to you on your phone when you left the room. I was curious and memorized it. I wanted to see what is was. I didn't think it would be this," I say.

He nods. "So you followed me to a warehouse in the night, just to see what I was doing?"

I nod. "You can still hate me. It's okay. I never really expected you to like me. I really gotta go. I snuck out and it takes a while to get home, walking."

His eyes widen. "Damn. Don't go. I'll take you home," He shakes his head.

"No! After all that, you should just go home and rest. Don't worry about me," I say.

He rolls his eyes. He grabs my wrist and pulls me with him. He walks to his car and opens the passenger side door. "Get in!" He points.

I nod and crawl in. He slams the door. He walks around and gets in the drivers seat.

"Part of me says that what you did was extremely dumb. But you didn't know you'd witness a murder. Not just A murder, but THREE murders," He says.

I look down. I hold my hands together.

"God Anna, why don't you just admit you like me? There's no other reason you'd do this," He shakes his head. He turns on his car.

I sigh. "I don't know. You're really cute. But I can't like you," I say softly.

"Why not? Because I'm Danger? Because the school couldn't bare to have a sweet Christian girl dating a badass like me?"

I sigh. "That, and the fact that my parents are the most strict parents ever. I never snuck out until tonight. I can't do that stuff. I can't date. I can't even associate with guys. I'm a prisoner. Trapped in my own home," I say.
