Chapter Five

Chapter Five- Burn *Kia's point of view*

Liang carries Mia in his arms as we walk back to the house. My body still slightly shakes and my head hurts. "Liang..."

He looks back at me before stepping into the driveway. "Yes?"

"Thank you. And I am sorry about earlier."

He smiles gently and holds his hand out. Hesitantly, I take it and we walk to the door. He kisses me with his soft lips and I feel his smile. Suddenly the door opens and someone yells. "Where the hell have you been?! Stop making out and get in the house!"

I blushed before looking at Jenna. I put my arms out to Liang and he hands Mia over to me. I lie her down in our bed and kiss her head before going back downstairs into the living room. Liang is sitting across from Jenna and they are both watching each other as though going to kill.

"Stop with those looks..." They both look at me and I hold my arm awkwardly. "I can explain. But Liang needs to leave the room."

They both look at me. "Fine." Jenna answers and before Liang says anything I point up the stairs.

"Go sleep and watch over Mia. I will be there in a little bit."

He looks at me and I point firmly upstairs so he knows I am serious. "Alright... But if anything happens I will be back."

We say nothing and he goes upstairs. "So then, explain."

I tell her what happened today and her face is full of sympathy. Then I begin with my past. "Liang and I were lovers for over twenty years, two years after we met. His family is very high up, royalty really. So we hid our relationship. But someone found out around the time Mia was..."

I stop talking and wipe my eyes. "You don't have to say anything if you want."

I sigh. "I was threatened and forced to leave. I have been banished from my home and if I ever return I will be killed. Liang doesn't know. I left without saying anything, not even goodbye. He thinks I left him, and that is how it has to stay. Don't tell him, please."

"Do you still love him?"

"He is my one and only love. I can never love anyone else as much as I loved him."

She frowns and reaches out to my hands. "I'm sorry Kia. I didn't know any of that. I will be here if you ever need me."

"Thank you."  I smile at her and hug her before going back upstairs and into the room. Mia and Liang our cuddled up together and little snores are heard. A smile sneaks onto my face as I watch them in front of the closed door. The moonlight illuminates the room and makes it seem as though they are both shining.

"Papa..." Mia says yawning and sitting up.

"Shhh..." I put my finger up and go to her side. Slipping into the bed. "Sleep now Lila. Goodnight." Lying back down we all fall asleep.

Chirp chirp. Chirp chirp.

The sounds of birds wake me up. I open my eyes slowly and stretch. I look to my side and no one is there. "Mia? Liang?" I sit up and look around. Mia's dress lies on the floor, blood staining it. My heart beats quickly as I jump up and run out of the room. "Mia!? Liang!? Mia!"

"Jeez Kia, yelling so early in..."

"Jenna! Have you seen Mia or Liang this morning?"

"Yeah, they should be in the kitchen." I run past her and into the kitchen. Liang and Mia are laughing about something.
