when i woke up the next morning, soda's arm was still around me and i could smell someone cooking breakfast in the kitchen. i gently nudged him in the side and he slowly opened his big brown eyes and looked into mine.
"morning beautiful." he said.
"morning." i smiled.
he looked shocked and he jumped out of the bed.
"whoa you alright soda?" i asked
he looked around the room and blinked a few times "yeah i just thought...never mind..." he trailed off.
okay then....
we went into the kitchen and got coffee. but before i could say anything, soda stormed out of the house.
"whoa whats his problem?" pony asked.
"im not sure...we woke up this morning and he called me...i think he thought i was someone else. hes been acting weird ever since." i explained.
"oh, well that must be sandy." pony said
um who? "sandy?"
"sandy is sodas ex girlfriend. it ended very badly. you have the same eyes." darry said, coming in the kitchen, too.
"Sandy who?" i asked
"Sandy Banner." soda said, standing in the door way. he must have come in at some point during our conversation. "why?"
"apparently i have her eyes." i said, walking back to the bedroom.
soda followed me in and sat next to me on the bed.
"is that why you almost kissed me yesterday?" i asked
"huh?"
"you know what im talking about. is the reason you almost kissed me yesterday because i have the same eyes as your exgirlfriend? "
"what? no, i didnt even notice your eyes until this morning." he admitted. "i was just really tired and youre really pretty. prettiest girl ive ever seen actually."
blushing again..."thank you"
"im going to take a shower, okay" he asked
"yeah sure." i said, not really sure why he had asked for permission
as soon as he left the room, i started to snoop. i looked in his closet at all of his clothes, he had a lot of tshirts and jeans but only one jacket, and it didnt look very warm. he had two pairs of shoes: tennis shoes and a pair of work boots. both pairs looked like theyd been warn about twice. i shut the closet and rummaged through the small desk. he had a few scrap pieces of paper with notes and doodles lazily scribbled across them, a few pictures of the gang, and some love letters written to and from Sandy. his were beautiful and i could tell they came from the heart. sandys letters were, on the surface, the same as sodas. but being a woman, i could tell that she didnt mean any of what she said, even though id never met her. i also found his cigarettes and a lighter. above his desk, was a mirror. i stepped up to the mirror and took in my appearance for the first time in months. i didnt really look that bad. my hair could use a good brushing, and i would look better with a bit of makeup, but i wasnt bad looking so i could get away with it. but still, i felt like a total slob. Soda came in wearing only a towel and suddenly i had forgotten what i was thinking about.
"darry doesnt really want you goin anywhere, but he left the truck in case somethin happens. want me to stop by your house and get ya some clothes?" he asked
"no way. they probably think im still locked in my room where they left me. maybe i could have Buck sneak in and bring my stuff over. but how long do i have to stay here?" i asked
"well...i was hopeing a while...but that would be kidnap, huh?" he joked
"i think i'd be alright with that." i smiled.
soda grinned and stepped closer to me, grabbing my waist. i trembled at his touch and he wrapped one arm around my back for support. i thanked him with a smile and stood on my tip-toes to be closer to his face. the hand that was still on my waist slowly began to move all the way up my body to my face. he lightly rested his hand on my face and kissed me deeply and passionately. as he kissed me, i couldnt help but breath in and smell him. he smelled amazing, safe, and like home. his lips were soft and sweet. his touch, strong but gentle.
