I sat in class quietly, It was last period and almost time to go home. My mind fantasized about Hector. I texted him all night until I fell asleep. I don't know what Nate was so skeptic about, he was so sweet and edgy. Sure, he has his problems, anyone you meet in therapy does but, I like him.
"Ashley?"
"Here."
"Chris?"
"Here?"
"April?"
"Here." I said as the teacher called my name, I then went back to daydreaming.
"Hector?"
My ears must have misunderstood, I waited for the teacher to call the name again. "Hector?" She asked looking over the class.
"Absent again." She stated, this couldn't be my Hector. The door flew open and there he was.
"Here." He said. His eyes met mine and he smirked, I quickly looked away trying to hide the deep blush setting in on my cheeks.
"You're lucky I didn't mark you absent Hector." The teacher said.
Hector just smiled and sat next to me, I looked down at my hands trying not to stare. I could hear him chuckle next to me, "So you're ignoring me beautiful?" Hector whispered.
I smiled, "No, but I also don't want to stare at you all class period."
"Ah, so you like what you see huh?" Hector laughed.
"Uh, " I just closed my mouth and hid my face.
He laughed, "It's fine niña bonita. I feel the same about you."
I looked up and gave him a soft smile. He reached over my desk and grabbed my hand massaging it with his hand.
"Class I'm going to the restroom, behave while I'm gone." The teacher said before walking out the class. A good minute had passed before all chaos struck. The bubbling chatter raged, spit balls and paper became airborne, and the desk turned into make out areas.
"Yo Hector!"
Hector and I turned around to see Chris and his friends walking towards us. Hector stood up holding my hand, I tried to sit back down, but he pulled me back up and put his arm around my waist to make sure I stay there. "Wassup?" Hector said.
Chris looked at his friends and they laughed, "Why, are you hanging out with this freak?"
Hector looked at me but I wouldn't look at him. I was way too embarrassed to look him in the eye. "I mean look at her Hector, her and her brother may be fraternal twins but she still looks like a boy."
Hector grabbed his shirt and brought him in, I'd never seen that much fear in anyone's eyes. Chris trembled and his nose flared like a raging bull, I could hear the clapping of the teacher's heels coming down the hallway.
"Hector?" I said.
"Apologize." He sneered in Chris's face.
Chris looked at me, "I'm sorry." He said his eyes filling with terror. "Hector!" I yelled.
Hector looked at me and his eyes softened. He threw Chris to the floor and I hugged him,
"I hope you suffocate on that shit." Chris hissed before running to his seat.
"I'm sorry April." He whispered in my hair.
"It's okay." I smiled and kissed his cheek. Everyone was in there seats by time the teacher came in. She looked around the classroom before starting the lesson, "Everyone turn to page 319."

The school day was finally over, I walked out with a smile on my face. For the first time in a long time I felt happy.
