Fitz's POV

After Trace went home, it was silent between Ro and I. The television playing in the background as we sat on the couch. I wanted to continue talking about her past but I knew she had already said too much. I felt the strange need to comfort her but I couldn't, too weird for me.

"You wanna tell me why you're staring at me?" She pulls me out of my thought.

"I wasn't."

"This is about what I told you earlier isn't it?" She asks, ignoring my response.

"No."

"You're a bad liar today." She scoffs, turning her body to face me.

"I'm not, I was just thinking about... Alright whatever you caught me."

"I don't want you to walk around here pitying me, treat me like you did when I first got here."

"I'll try." I shrug.

"I actually wanted to ask you something?" I nod for her to continue.

"How would you feel about... being roommates?"

"I'm sorry what?" My eyes widen.

"Well I enjoy being here, so it's not really a kidnapping anymore and I don't want to go back with my parents."

"Uh, I don't think that's a good idea."

"Please just think about it, I'll help with rent."

"Where would you even sleep?" I cross my arms.

"Turn that "weight room" into a bedroom."

"I know I'm going to regret this but-"

"Yay! Thank you so much!" She crawls over to me, hugging the life out of me.

"Whatever."

"Since we've established that you won't be killing me and I won't snitch, can I get my phone back?"

I stand up and grab her phone from the kitchen drawer.

"Why didn't I look there." She face palms her bare face. Even without makeup she looks hot.

"Fitz?"

"What?"

"Why didn't you kill me that night?"

"Are you still asking this?" I roll my eyes.

"Yes, I need to know."

"You have your whole life ahead of you, you're so young, naïve, and impressionable. It may seem like the end of the world but I promise it's not. I don't need a teen death on my conscious. Your future hasn't even started yet, I couldn't take that away from you. There now you know." I got up and stalked to my bedroom and slammed the door.

What am I getting myself into? I'm supposed to be finding a way to get her out of here, now she's my roommate and I'm already finding compassion for her?

"Fitz." She knocks before coming in as I sit on the bed.

"I'm sorry, I didn't realize I was putting pressure on you, I just assumed you kill because you don't care, I never thought there might be a reason behind it."

"There's always a reason, I kill the people that were involved with my family's death and the people that steal from me." I look up at her.

"I didn't know, again I didn't know."

"Of course you didn't, you just thought I was some heartless bastard ready to kill anything with a beating heart right?" I growl, balling up my fist.

"No I just- well I didn't think."

"Exactly, you went on impulse, what if I was also a rapist? You put yourself in danger without worrying about the consequences like a child." I shake my head.

"I get it! You know what, I'll find another place to stay!" She yells and glares back at me before turning on her heel.

"Don't you dare leave, it's dark out and you don't have a car." I stand from the bed and follow her out of the room.

"I'll be fine." I grab the back of her shirt and pull her towards my body.

"I said no."

"You are not my mother, my father, or my daddy so I don't have to listen to you. I mean you obviously don't want to have to babysit some child anyway right?" She turns to face me with her hands on her hips.

"You know I didn't mean-" she cut me off.

"Yes you did, you said everything you had to say, it's quite clear I'm nothing but a nuisance to you so let-"

I kissed her.

No longer than three seconds, but I did it. I grabbed her by the collar of her shirt and went for it.

I quickly let go of her right after those seconds and pushed her away from me as if she had stabbed me.

Why did I do that? There are plenty of other ways to shut her up.

"Wha-"

"Don't say anything, I don't know why I did that." I was literally shaking with guilt.

"It's okay it happened, it's whatever."

"That wasn't okay, I-" She stands on her toes and gives me a quick kiss.

"There we're even, now you can sleep tonight, you're welcome." She gives a small smile.

I was speechless.

Damn, she had some soft lips though.
