The day went by quickly. Throughout the periods I kept quiet until lunch. During that time, I told my whole group and Jess what happened. It was no surprise to me that they all resented them lying bastards. A few guys and girls though kept their thoughts on their faces expressionless.

"Are you gonna talk to Cody about it?" I remember Abby saying to me.

"One of them would probably have called him about it already," My eyes and head had been dreary.

Jess nudged me on the shoulder, "I would still talk to him; he's your boyfriend after all. And hey, no one here is obviously gonna do it."

Her words stuck with me all the way through the bus ride after school. My head was leaning on my elbow that was perched against the foggy window. Neighborhood after neighborhood passed until it was finally my stop. I grabbed my bag and got off with a meaningless "thank you" at the bus driver. Even if it's polite, I don't think it changes the bus drivers mood at all.

The wind whipped new stray strands of hair in my face, and I grumbled. I pulled up to my three-story tan house and unlocked the door with my keys.

Suddenly a yell came to my right, and I had to block out the annoyance in my eyes.

"Ey, Lina! Where are your folks? You look too young to be walking out the-there on your own." His voice was a wobbly mess.

We called him Harry the alcoholic. Or more so me and Casey, I kinda told her that that was his real name.

Everyday he would pull up in his tan-gray Sudan, always wearing some baggy shirt with ripped jeans. His arms made him look like a gorilla, and don't even get me started on his hair.

That tangled brown mess of a bread and head hair seemed like it hasn't been brushed in years. Who knows what could be hiding under all that jungle.

But we had to be nice to him, even if we had seen a sack potatoes better looking than him.

"I am perfectly capable and old enough to be walking on my own, Harry."

He eyed me shakily,"Alright, alright you caught me." He put his hands up as if I actually caught him.

"I...what? What?"

He laughed and put the keys he held in the lock to open the door. Harry grabbed his umbrella before going inside.

I shook my head, the nonsense I have to put up with.

Opening my own door, I walked inside and slid off my converse on the mat. I grabbed a bag of Doritos before heading upstairs to my room.

My door opened without a sound and I slung my backpack next to the king bed. In the corner my desk sat. I quickly slumped down into one of my beanbag chairs and leaned my head back.

Beads of sweat were gathering near the edge of my forehead. My whole body felt tired. Considering what I've been through today, it wasn't surprising that I was feeling this way. Ugh, I hated every second of it.

My phone suddenly rang, jumping me out of my thoughts. It blared out loudly in my room. I crouched over to retrieve it from my back pocket and looked at the screen;

It was Cody.

Cody was calling.

I gulped and hesitated before letting my finger touch the green call button. Should I answer? He might be concerned about what had happened during school. But at the same time, he was probably concerned about me.

Guess I'll answer. I pressed the answer button and the ringing stopped aruptedly.

I put my iPhone to my ear and spoke first, "Hey babe, what are you calling about?"
