Konnya woke up in her room with a start. She sucked in air as fast as she could. Cold sweat dripped down her back. Her head pounded like someone had hit it with a bat. Memories of Flix and Svanturum faded. The more she tried to grab them, the more they slipped away.

Something rustled across the room. Konnya bolted into a sitting position.

Soft moonlight fell on a bed on the opposite wall. The blankets rhythmically rose and fell. Quiet snoring drifted to her ears.

Right. Harbor. Her little sister.

Memories of her siblings flooded to the front of her mind. How could she forget about her brothers and sisters?

The last images of Flix faded away. Konnya slipped from under the blankets, and hung her legs over the edge of the bed. She leaned over and checked the time. 11:53.

Harbor stirred and sat up. "Konnya? Are you okay?"

Konnya held her head. "I'm fine. Just...weird dreams."

Harbor slipped out of bed and barely made a sound as she moved across the thick carpet. She sat beside Konnya and ran her fingers through her hair.

"You sure? You haven't really been yourself lately. It's like you don't know who you are anymore."

Konnya put an arm around Harbor's shoulders. "I've just been having such vivid dreams. But I can't remember them." Konnya wetted her lips. "It'll pass in a few days."

The clock clicked and dinged. Harbor glanced at it.

"Midnight," she said. "Zook will probably make sure we're awake right after the sun comes up."

"Why?"

Harbor frowned. "He's been reminding you for a month. His birthday?"

Konnya fell back against the bed. How could she forget? She propped herself up on her elbow. "We're going to need some sleep then."

Harbor nodded. "Love you, Konn." She stood and went back to her bed.

Out of habit, Konnya checked the time before settling down to sleep. She gasped. A few minutes ago it had been midnight. The clock read 2:14.

Konnya shook her head, and laid down. She pulled the blankets up to her chin, and tried to clear her mind.

Eventually she drifted to sleep remembering she hadn't gotten anything for Zook's birthday.
