She had no more tears after talking to the reporter. Her face was hot and swollen. Someone wrapped her arm and checked her vitals. She didn't hear the sirens. Didn't notice the bustle around her. What did it matter?
Her family was gone.
"What're you going to do now?" the medical attendant said.
Konnya wanted to glare at her, wanted to say something sarcastic. But her face reflected her own pain. Like she understood.
Konnya shrugged. All the screaming and smoke left her throat raw. She managed a raspy "Don't know."
The attendant gave a sad smile.
Everything seemed to grow pale, losing depth, beginning to sparkle. For a second, the attendant looked entirely confused before everything turned white and Konnya lost sight of her.
Konnya shielded her eyes from the bright nothing. She couldn't see a floor or a ceiling. Stomping, her feet felt like they were on solid ground, but she couldn't see or feel it when she bent down to feel.
A person appeared in front of her. Her hair and eyes dark. Black swirls around her neck. Konnya put a hand to her neck where the same swirls burned. The woman didn't look right. She looked solid enough, but, she look...faded.
She smiled. "Time to bump you down the time stream."
Konnya frowned and hugged her ribs. "I know you."
Her smile faded. "Not yet. You can't. It's not time."
"Tur..." The name tugged at the back of her mind.
"Stop!" the woman yelled. "The more you know now, the worse it will be later. I can't make you forget the things you remember on your own." She stepped closer. "Now take my hand. Time you move you."
Konnya stumbled back. The swirls on her neck tightened enough to make her to breathe slow and deep.
Tur...whatever her name was grabbed Konnya's hand and looked up at her with sad eyes. "It's not that I don't want you to know."
The tugging in her head began to hurt. "I...I know you."
"No, Konnya. Not now."
I feel like I'm grasping at straws. Does this feel like the same info? I don't know how this is gonna play out, but I'll try to show more stuff in the next part.
I'd love any suggestions!
