Her family left, but Konnya couldn't rest. She walked around the house, talking out loud, trying to figure everything out. The screams still bounced off her brain, but now it was just a memory. "What if it was already just a memory?"

But how could that work? She'd never heard those things before...But they sounded much to real to be something she made up. Maybe she'd heard them on tv?

Konnya shook her head, let out a frustrated sigh, and threw herself on the couch. She grabbed the remote and hit the power button. Flipping through the channels, she gasped when she saw the gym where Zook's party was happening. It was on fire.

A reporter's voice fought to be heard over sirens. "...Here where a boy's birthday party was tragically cut short. Sources say--"

A deafening mixture of splitting wood, crashing glass, and falling concrete, cut the reporter off. The camera swung around to catch the gym caving in. The gathering crowd gasped and screamed. The reporter started again, "It has been affirmed...out of the 37 people at the party, there are only 2 survivors. One is in critical condition, and the other is here."

The reporter went to a woman blackened by smoke and coughing. "Ma'am, do you know what happened?"

The woman looked up and Konnya gasped. But she was sitting there watching it...how could she be in it? "They wouldn't listen to me," she said frantically. "I tried to tell them! And now they're gone because I couldn't save them." She threw herself into the reporter's arms and sobbed.

Konnya turned off the tv. She felt her face. It burned like she'd been in the heat of flames. How? She couldn't be in two places at once.

Shadow Former...

She pushed away those annoying words and tried to think logically.

"I can't be there when I'm here. And I certainly can't watch myself." She tried to laugh it off. "Unless I just saw the future."

She looked at the clock. Her family had only left ten minutes ago. It took fifteen to get to the gym. Konnya tried to slow her breathing. Everything was fine. Her family wasn't going to die...right?

She bit her lip and turned the tv back on. The woman--her--was telling what happened in between sobs. "Zook h-he was opening presents when--" She hid her face in her hands, and the camera went back to the reporter.

Konnya hit the power button, grabbed the keys to the spare car, and ran out the door. The words whispered again and again.

Doomed to the fate of a Shadow Former.

Sorry for the late update! I've been sick and busy, but excuses excuses...As always, tell me what you think! :)
