Nothing interesting so far... a couple of iron ores and lapis. Not much to be proud of, especially after given the instructions to find diamonds. I was digging laterally, hoping I could possibly find a way down to the rouvine, where surely there is obsidian at least and hopefully enough diamond for a pickaxe.

Stone...
Stone...
Coal...
Diamonds...
Diamonds... DIAMONDS!
Ha ha! I finally struck gold - er... diamonds I suppose. Anyway there were five, enough to make a nifty helmet but... it'll be better if I make a pickaxe for the obsidian we need and it'll leave enough for a sword too!

Whelp I'm probably getting awfully close to the entrance of the rouvine, I'll start heading back and gathering all my friends to raid this place. I got so many diamonds even the ever so silent Barry will be impressed! Man I can't wait to show him...

[Dean POV]

"Jeff! Barry! Where are you two?" I yelled, McJones and Jared silently following along.

This isn't good - getting lost in a mineshaft of this size is basically a death wish.
Jared pointed out the stair like block arrangement leading to the upper level, there they are. Pretty foolish of them to run off alone...
I turned a corner to find Jeff silently staring at the ground, back against a cobblestone wall he probably constructed.

"Dude, stop running off alone - you might get lost. Now stop moping and let's go find Barry..." I said.

Jeff looked at me with tears welling in his eyes, pointing behind him.
"Barry... I found him." He sighed.

How could make a joke at a time like this? Barry's probably out there fending off a armada of cave spiders on his own with no shield!

Jared realized what was wrong long before I did, breaking a piece of cobblestone off his wall to see the horror for himself. He stepped back, face white and hand to his mouth.
"He's not joking. He really is in there..."

Impatiently my face turned red,
"Well get him out! We don't have time to--"
Then I saw him: edging slowly near to the wall with pale green skin and no pupils. Moaning in agony...

Dammit.

[Austin POV]

There they are! Prancing around like pikachu from hey you pikachu does occasionally.
"Guys look what I found!" I laughed, holding diamonds in both my hands and 'making it rain'.
Nobody looked in my direction, only stared at the wall ahead.

"Diamonds. What's more important than--"

~~~~~~~~~~~
We were all silent as we worked: Jeff worked on his farm, Jared cooked food, Dean built walls, McJones crafted tools, Ray built a doorway to the cave and me? Well...
I had the most unpleasant job.
With a shovel in one hand and wood planks in the other, I dug a grave. The clouds seemed to responded to my grave feelings as it darkened until it was pitch black. A clap of thunder was heard in the distance...
"Barry..." I muttered, feeling rain fall on my cheeks. I smiled.
"Stop making your going so dramatic..."
Rainfall began to increase significantly and I was soaked to the bone.
"You dick... leaving so soon..."
Without looking back, I left the gravestone engraved with the words - Barry the Brave. Something other than rainwater trickled down my cheek... he was our first loss, hopefully our last.
Anger dwelled inside of me as a spider scuttled towards me with the intent on killing me
Anger dwelled inside of me as a spider scuttled towards me with the intent on killing me. Pulling out my iron sword I continuously stabbed the spider until green blood spew from it's body.
McJones pulled me away, ripping the sword from my hands and dropped it.
I cried into his shoulder... Deaths used to be a joke around us - until we failed our tasks one too many times with losses being more prominent.
I saw Jeff gloomily look at me through the window.
Being depressed like this is going to affect our morale. I need to revert back to my old self if I don't want anybody dying due to a lack of awareness...
Tomorrow is a new day.
~~~~~~~~~~

One stick, two diamonds and....
There!

"Guys! Look what I got!" I said proudly, raising the shining blue blade into the sky.

Jeff stared at me funny and Dean rolled his eyes.
"You should've saved it for the enchantment table instead of being so greedy!" McJones shouted at last, rubbing his eyes under his glasses.

"Me? Greedy?" I asked,
"No I prefer my iron sword. I wanna play a game!"

"This is not saw!" Ray shouted from a distance, further expanding our defences.

I chuckled softly,
"No, I'm thinking a number between one and ten..."

Jared walked in with a arm full of wool,
"Guys! There was two grey sheep and they were so cool!" He exclaimed, shoving the grey wool in everybody's faces.

"Thaaaaaat's correct! It was two! Here's your sword Jared have fun." I couldn't help but giggle at this dumb coincidence.

The others look dumbfounded, but joined in laughing.

I smiled.

It's good to get some laughter before heading into the deathly rouvine. We need morale raised and some laughs, just in case we regret too much.
