The creeper sneaked up behind Jeff with bloodlust behind its dead eyes, ready to kill anything in its blast radius. Jeff had his back turned and was busy fending off multiple spiders - only Austin saw the death approaching Jeff through the corner of his eye.

"JEFF!" Austin shouted, reaching out to save him.

Jeff turned and saw the creeper that was about to end his journey, the one that was already glowing with its signature tssssssss sound.

Then it exploded, taking the two spiders that was fixed upon Jeff with it. As dirt erupted through the sudden explosion, Austin shouted loudly as he was sent flying back. Smoke now lay at the crater, obscuring Austin's view of Jeff's remains.

"JEFF! PLEASE TELL ME YOU'RE THERE!" He screamed again.

His reply came from the form of a hand reaching from the smoke and slowly crawling out of the smouldering crater.
"You do NOT wanna see what the insides of spiders are like..." Jeff said as he coughed.
"Man... that was close..."

Austin rushed to drag him out of the carnage, embracing him dearly.

"Don't do that again man!" He said, choking back tears that dwelled behind his eyes.

[Jeff POV]

Almost all my limbs ached from pain and my body was drenched in slimy green goo. Unfortunately some dripped onto Austin, who helped get me up.

It was nasty, the moment of explosion.
I heard the faint tssssss of a creeper and when I turned to look it exploded in my face. I heard McJones ramble on about how a direct hit from a creeper can kill you regardless of armour, so I guess the spiders that tried to kill me acted as some barrier of protection from the last? It seemed like it at least as it was basically reduced to a slimy glop of gooey substance.

The sun finally began to rise and we took slow breaths to calm ourselves. That was too close for comfort. We ran back to the boat, now taking the finished paddle and we began paddling away to another island. Man... it's gonna be hard to not sacrifice such a fine paddle...

Something distracted me though - having to stare at Austin's neck for so long.

"Dude? What's on the back of your neck?" I promptly asked.

"Oh that?" Austin chuckled,
"That's my gummy works!"

THAT. Was disgusting.
"Ewwwwww!" I laughed.

"Forget that man! Check this out!"

Austin aggressively began paddling speedily forward and then stopped paddling on one side, doing a full 180 that made me question why we didn't flip over. It was fun though, we both screeched as the boat almost flipped over.
Then it was silent.

"Aw damn! It's all Tokyo Drift up on here!" I shouted.

Austin laughed along as I broke down hysterically.

Since Enderman only spawned at night, we set up a camp by the boat. We placed down two furnaces that were cooking the meat we gathered, a crafting table at the ready and even a chest for all the random loot we managed to collect.

Slowly the sun began to set and I watched Austin slowly drift off into sleep. I was tired too, but we were too exposed to both sleep- it's just like death road to Canada again! Me having to guard while Austin sleeps...
