"Grell, darling?" Madam Red's voice asked, muffled through the walls and closed doors, accompanied with a light knock. She stood outside of her daughter's room, her face showing a small look of concern. "Are you ready? You've been in there for quite some time, Ciel is waiting for us in the dining hall and expecting us at dinner."
Startled by her mother's unexpected announcement, Grell shrieked and ungracefully jumped back in shock, dropping the hairbrush in hand. Recollecting herself and sighing at her own overreaction, she crouched over carefully to pick up the comb, which had scattered across the white tiled floors. Tucking a strand of her long hair behind her ear, she stood up. Grell took a moment to observe herself in the full-body mirror, supplied on the wall opposite of her. A tight, chestnut-colored bodice, tied like a corset in the back, clung to her torso. White sleeves fell short just above her elbows. A simple red skirt underneath the attire, cut off at mid-calf, letting her laced-up boots peak out. Nothing too elegant, but nice enough to belong in a baroness's wardrobe. "Go on ahead without me, I'll be there as soon as possible."
"Are you sure?" The Madam's question sounded like a mumbled through the walls. "I don't want you to get lost, that would be quite awful."
"I'll be fine." Grell assured as she began pulling her hair back, tying it in a ponytail at the nape of her neck with a satin ribbon. She listened for a response from her mother, which never came. "Must've taken my word, I suppose." Grell mused to herself. She reached for her red-framed glasses, sliding them onto her face carefully, as if they could shatter to pieces in her hands at any second. She took once last glance in the mirror, ruffling a hand through her bangs. Leading out of the washroom and back into her guest quarters, Grell shut the door behind her as she did so. Cringing at the loud noise it gave off, she sighed, "Best get on my way."
As she was exiting the room, Grell was greeted by obnoxious screams and shouts. "Oi! Look, there 'e goes!"
"Finny! Don't just stand there, do something!"
"Mey-Rin, you ain't helpin' much, either!"
"Well, what am I supposed to do, hm?"
"Stop fighting!"
"Ah! I know! I'll go get me flamethrower!"
"Bard, no!"
"Ah! Look, he's getting away!"
"Down the hall, let's get 'em!"
Accompanied with the odd bickering, three clusmy servants bombarded down the hallway; chasing after a rodent of some kind scrambling across the carpet. The little murine-like creature scuttled between Grell's legs beneath her. The three couldn't stop themselves in time, and the next thing she knew, Grell was tackled to the ground by a group her mother not-so affectionately called, 'The Others'.
The Others were the set of servants that worked for Ciel who were - well, no good enough to be compared to Sebastian and his talents. The gardener, Finny, the maid, Mey-Rin, and the cook, Bardroy, were a rag-tag group of misfits, none of which could do their job right, which often resulted in a scolding from Sebastian and him performing the tasks for them. More often than not, Madam Red quite rudely explained how that if she had a group of servants that incapable of performing their day-to-day tasks, she'd have them all fired on the spot.
The staff tumbled off of Grell, all supporting embarrassed looks on their faces; ranging from 'Well, this is awkward' to tomato red. "Lady Grell!" Finny shouted, his cerulean eyes widening at the sight of Grell lying helplessly on the floor. "Let me help you up!" He reached for her hand, yanking it upwards and nearly sending her flying through the air. Despite being small and rather young, Finny had a strength that was far too powerful for him to control, and frequently caused more harm than help when he was working in the gardens.
