"Excuse me, Lady Grell, can I have this next dance?" startled by the sudden interruption, Grell twisted her head, only to find the person she dreaded to see most. William stod beside her, on the opposite side of Sebastian. His green eyes were fixed on her and her only, his hand held out as an invitation. He wore a three-piece suit, colored only in black and white. Grell looked him up and down again, she had to admit that he looked handsome that evening. In fact, any girl could fall for his looks and charm, any girl but herself. She wouldn't allow it.
"William," she gasped, taken aback by his sudden arrival. Her eyes darted down to his hand, doubting whether or not she should agree. Grell looked up at Sebastian, pleading for help out of the situation she found herself stuck in. With a microscopic shake of his head and slight widening of his eyes, Sebastian urged Grell to decline William's offer. Grell turned back to William, trying her hardest to keep her nervous laughter to herself as she answered. "Well, er, I, um, ah..." she stuttered, avoiding William's gaze. "You see, I'd love to dance with you, but right now-"
Her stammering response seemed good enough for William, bringing a smug grin to his face. "Wonderful," he replied as he took Grell's hand in his and forcefully dragged her out onto the dance floor, oblivious to her incoordination. Luckily for them, the next dance was far slower than the first and performed with a much simpler two-step that Grell could somewhat keep up with. Once Grell had gotten the hang of the dance, William tightened his grip around her waist and pulled her closer toward him, compelling her into his chest. "Oh, how I've missed you, my dear."
"Yes, it's... lovely to see you too, Lord William," Grell said between gritted teeth, choosing her words slowly and carefully as not to make a fool of herself. Her body tensed up as their torsos were forced together by him, she felt awkward and uncomfortable being so close to him.
"Please," he sighed, closing his eyes and shaking his head, "call me Will, why don't you?"
"Alright then, Will," she corrected.
William tilted his head back up, his eyes searching around the room and settling on Sebastian, who watched Grell and William from afar. "Now, I do hope you don't mind my inquiring, but what on bloody earth were you doing with a servant?" he asked, his voice dripping with venomous disgust.
It took every bit of self control Grell had not to lash out at William and explain to him that Sebastian was so much more than a mere servant to her. Of course, she knew better than to cause a scene, especially at such a large social event. She sighed and gazed over at Sebastian, her eyes apologetic. His eyes met with hers for a split second and her nodded, a silent message that she'd be okay. Grell forced herself to look away from him, she knew that if she looked at him for much longer William would become suspicious. "He's my escort for the night. See, the Phantomhive butler is here with me tonight to look out for me, to make sure I don't find myself in any trouble."
William cocked his head to the side, his eyes narrowed. "Oh? Trouble, eh?" he asked, his voice filled with a hint of temptation. "Now, wouldn't you much rather be caught with a man like myself rather than the likes of that?" he asked, jerking his head toward Sebastian. He forced Grell's body even closer to his own, his hands tracing father down her waist.
"Excuse me?" Grell asked, shocked. Her body winced, the way his hands touched her body were unappreciated.
He smirked, an expression similar to that Sebastian made. He dipped his head down to Grell, still smiling when he did so. "Oh, how I'd love to find myself in trouble with you," he purred, his voice enticing and alluring.
"Oh, okay, that's enough there," she stated, shifting her body again and pulling herself away from William. He reached out for her again, but she stopped him with her hands on his chest, pushing him away. "I can't do this, I'm sorry," she apologized, removing her hands from his chest and backing away.
