"Good afternoon, My Lord," Sebastian greeted as he entered Ciel's study. With him, he had brought his master's tea, presuming that was what he wanted. Once he had met eyes with Ciel's cold glare, he knew there was something more. Although a bit unnerved by the unusual and slightly threatening look from Ciel, Sebastian never let it bother him. He proceeded over to Ciel's desk, pouring the Earl Grey tea out of the pot and into an empty tea cup on Ciel's desk.
"Save the tea, Sebastian," Ciel stated, stopping his butler's actions by holding up his hand. He watched as Sebastian set the teapot down on the desk. Their eye contact met, and Ciel could instantly tell that his butler was confused and concerned. He sighed, shaking his head. "I wanted to speak with you."
"As you wish," Sebastian answered with a bow. "What about, may I inquire?"
"I think you know," Ciel scoffed, turning his head away from Sebastian. "Honestly, did you think that I wouldn't notice? That you'd get away with it?"
"My Lord, I don't believe I know what you're talking about." Sebastian said, slightly cocking his head to the side.
"Shut up!" Ciel snapped, jumping up from his seat. Sebastian backed away from Ciel, his sudden action had surprised him. He knew that Ciel had a short temper and that he'd never resort to violence against his own butler, but he kept his distance anyway. "You and I both knew very well what it is that I'm talking about! I thought I told you to stay away from her!"
Sebastian's eyes went wide. He winced, he had forgetten the other afternoon that he still had to guard his relationship with Grell from Ciel. 'How could I have been so thoughtless?' he asked himself. He bowed, hanging his head in shame. "My Lord, I think you need to calm down, I beleive you're overreacting."
Sighing, Ciel slumped into his chair. He crossed his arms over his chest and pouted, resembling a small child throwing a fit. He shook his head, his visible eye shooting daggers at Sebastian. "No, what I think is in order is an explanation."
"About what?" Sebastian asked, still holding his head low. He was too scared to meet the dark look from his master, let alone explain what was going on to him.
Ciel groaned. "Sebastian, if you would, stop stalling. I want an explanation on the ring, the ring that Grell has. It didn't just magically appear there, now did it?"
"No, it didn't." he answered.
"Then explain." Ciel waited in silence for a response, a response that never did come. Quickly becoming impatient, Ciel spun around in the large chair, his back to Sebastian as he faced out the window. "Don't think I don't know what's going on now, because I do know. You're having an affair with Grell. Don't you even dare try to deny it now."
"My Lord, you don't understand. It's not that, it's much more than that, something I don't think that you can understand right now at your age." Sebastian mumbled, still refusing to raise his head, even though Ciel had turned away from him.
"Oh, really?" Ciel asked. Although he wouldn't face him, Sebastian could almost imagine the moody teenage boy rolling his eyes. "Like what? Try me, at least."
Sebastian raised him head, taking a deep breath. Still nervous, he waited a short while before answering. "It's love."
A long period of silence followed before either of the two spoke. Ciel leaned out of his chair, facing Sebastian. His face showed a combination of disappointment, anger, and confusion. "Love?" he asked in a whisper.
"Yes, My Lord. Love." Sebastian confirmed, nodding his head. "Grell loves me, and I love her in return."
"Yes, yes, yes, I understand how love works, Sebastian. My parents were in love, I know how all of that works." He held up his hand to stop Sebastian, like he had when he delined his tea. He closed his eyes, sighing. "But..." Ciel's voice trailed off.
