Dedicated this chapter to Miss_Meru, my very first reader ! :) Thanks for spreading my book to your friend. Although it's not the best fan fic out there, I appreciate all your support.
PS . It took me awhile to find the dedication button so you better appreciate it. Lol, just kidding. :)
Chapter 36
Mia's POV
The moment after a kiss ... is kinda awkward. Especially for someone like me. I was already awkward in general.
Zayn insisted on taking the wheel, and I didn't argue with him. I was in no condition to drive still flustered from the kiss. Hopefully Zayn didn't know that how much his lips had power over me.
I wanted to bring up the kiss and clarify 'us', but every time I tried, my cheeks warmed up, and my heart raced out of my chest thinking back to the moment.
So we're not friends. Yet we're no where close to friends with benefits. So we're not friends but two people who shared a horrible past and had basically confessed their feelings for each other through a kiss. It still didn't seep in.
I convinced myself that we'd talk about it later. It's just way too soon. For me.
When we arrived at the airport, Mark and George were already there waiting for us. Luckily they hadn't noticed my red hot cheeks.
After passing check-in and security and a whole crowd of fans already waiting for Zayn, we finally got peace and quiet once on the private jet. The entire plane ride consisted of pretty much sleeping. We were all exhausted and well the only person who stayed up was George, having been stuck in his bed the whole time in Seattle. Chicago was only two hours ahead of the West Coast so hopefully the jet lag won't be too much of a problem for me.
I was kind of glad Zayn had fallen asleep. I didn't want to face him some I was still confused about our kiss.
***
After Mark checked all of us into The Peninsula hotel, he left us saying that he had business to tend to. When we got into the lift, George and I went all the way into the back. The rest of the crew were talking on the background and I could hear Zayn's laughter appear from up ahead.
What was he laughing about?
Was he trying to avoid me?
Did that kiss, perhaps, mean nothing to him?
But his words....
"You and I both know the reason why we can't be friends. And if you don't want to say it, let me be the one to say to it. I don't want to be just friends anymore. I want to be the one telling you jokes. The one you laugh with. The one in your thoughts before you go to bed. I want to be more than just the guy you look over. Just please let me."
Were they just words?
When the elevator doors slid open, there, in the hallway stood four handsome, tall boys. I could see a body run up to them, but it was hard to tell who it was since I was all the way in the back. But who else would run crazily like that to Louis, Harry, Liam, and Niall other than Zayn?
As we dispersed from the elevator, everyone was so happy to see the One Direction reunion. I swear there were tears in each one of their eyes.
"Mia! Nice to see you again." Liam spoke giving me a hug and a peck on the cheek.
"You too. It's really been too long."
"I know."
Liam returned to the crowd after giving me another embrace while Niall approached me, his arms already stretched wide.
