Deborah's Point of View
Standing in front of my alpha, I knelt down. "My alpha. You called me in here." I said. She laughed. "Sweetheart, you do not have to address me like that."
Looking up, I saw her smiling face above me; her hand outstretched for mine to grab. I did grab her hand and fully stand up. "But you know I still do, mother. You are the alpha."
Yes, my mother is the alpha of the Blue Oasis pack... Here's a little backstory on how she became the alpha:
About nine years ago, when I was ten years old, my uncle on my fathers side, Ronald James Melendez Jr, who was my fathers eldest brother, was the alpha. At first, he was an okay alpha. But then he became evil. He let his title get to his head.
Even though my father didn't want to kill him, he thought it was the best idea to get his family and his pack out of harms way. But when he was fighting, Ronald killed him.
My mother went ballistic when he had died. She even saw him get killed. I on the other hand, was both lucky and unlucky to see my father die. Lucky, because, I was only ten and shouldn't see my parent, or anyone else die, but unlucky because I wasn't there to be able to talk to my father at the time before he died.
Anyways, when my mother saw my father die, she instantly attacked him. No matter how much in pain she was from loosing him. Her mate. The one she spent twenty-five years with. They were nineteen when they knew they were mates and twenty when they married.
She killed him within minutes and became the new alpha.
"Would you like some tea, sweetheart?" She asked me when she sat down in her chair. I nod once and sit in the chair across from her. She hands me a cup of tea. "I called you here because it is about you finding a mate." She said as she pours herself some tea and takes a small sip from the cup.
I set my cup down and look at her the way I always do when she brings up the conversation. "Mother. I'm not ready to find a mate right now. I am only nineteen." I say, still giving her the look. She sighs, sets her cup down, and looks me straight in the eye. "I understand that sweetheart. But that's how old your father and I were when we met and became mates." She said in a soft voice and grabbing my hand. "There are plenty of nice, young men in the Blue Oasis pack that will be potential mates if you only open yourself up and allow the bonding to start." She tells me, lightly squeezing my hand.
I pull back my hand and set it into my lap. "Mother. I know you and father met when you were nineteen. But I'm not like you guys. And there are only a few boys here my age that still don't have mates yet. And you know that I've already tried with them. So everyone else that is male in Blue Oasis is either way too young or way too old... And most of the older ones have mates." I sigh, leaning back into my chair.
She gives me a concerned look. "Honey, I understand that you can't find one at the moment but I know you will find one soon." She gave me a small smile after she finished.
Looking down, I stood up. "It'll take time though mother. But.. I'll eventually find my mate." Looking back up, she was already standing. "That's good." She said with a nod. I nod back at her and start back out the door but stopped and turned. "Where we going to hunt today or was it... the other packs day?"
If you didn't know, there was just not our pack in the area. About half a mile north of us is a pack about twice our size, (we have about sixty people in our pack so they have about one hundred and twenty), and they are the Vanished Fire pack. Our packed are civilized to each other but if one of the other attacks than there would be a war between packs.
"I believe it's our day to hunt, today. But as long as we don't come across the other pack or don't attack them, at least, I think we will be fine." She said rather proudly. "Who's all going to hunt?" I asked, lightly leaning against the door frame. "Not very many. Only about ten of us. And you're one of them."
I started to tense up. I never was allowed to go hunting ever since my mother became alpha. I never understood why I couldn't, but I was just never allowed. My mother or someone much older than me always told me I could go when I was older. But I guess now I am older and, even though before I did want to go hunting, it made me really nervous.
"Okay, mother. What time do I need to meet the others and where?" I asked. She gave a look that she was thinking for a second. "Be back here in about an hour, if you don't mind." She said, sternly but with a smile. I nod once and walk out of her office.
