Deborah's Point of View

I changed back to human. "W-who.. Who are you?" I asked, taking his hand and standing up. "Jesse..." He whispered, looking into my eyes. "Jesse what?" I asked. "Underwood." He said, a bit louder. "What's your name?"

I looked at him for a second. Should I really tell him my name? Then there was a noise behind me that pulled me from my thoughts and from him. "Deborah! Get away from him!" Jordyn's voice called out from behind me.

Before I could respond, Jordyn already pushed me away from him and attacked Jesse. "Jordyn!" I yelled and pulled him off of Jesse. "What are you doing, Deborah?! He's from the other pack and he was going to attack you!" He growled at me when I did pull him off and slam him into the ground.

"He hasn't done anything to me.. Yet at least..." I looked at Jesse and he was breathing hard and on the ground. Looking back at Jordyn I flicked his nose. He wrinkled it. "You sit still." I command while getting up and going to Jesse. "Deborah? Is that your name?" He asked as I helped him up. I nodded. "Deborah Melendez."

I felt the urge just to press myself into him. To just touch him and hug him and never let him go. Even if I didn't know him. Even if we were from different packs. Even if our packs hated each other.

As if Jesse read my mind, he lightly grabbed my waist and pulled me into him. "Hey! Get your hands off of her, you ass!" Jordyn yelled as he tried getting up and attacking again. But once he got close enough to us, I slapped him. "Jordyn Gregory Valentine! Go find the others and get more food so you can go home." I commanded.

Jordyn inhaled deeply. You know I don't like fighting with you, Jordyn. Physically and verbally. You know I love you and don't want you hurt. So please just go. I can deal with him. I thought to Jordyn and made a slight nod gesture towards Jesse. Jordyn looked at Jesse than back at me. "Fine. But don't be out too late." He told me and hugged me.

Once he left, I heard a small laugh come from Jesse. "What are you laughing at?" I questioned, looking at him and trying to stay calm. "Your little friend, there." He said. "What about him?" I pressed. Jesse shrugged his shoulders. "Seems overprotective." He sighed. "We've been friends all our lives." I mumbled.

I just met this guy, but my heart keeps skipping beats; I wanted to touch him; to be close to him. "What are you thinking there?" Jesse asked, pulling me out of my thoughts. "Um... nothing." I quickly said. "It's just..." I stopped talking because I really didn't know how to word it. I really wanted to say, I believe you're my mate. But I'm not sure if he felt that feeling too.

"Deborah Elizabeth Melendez!" An all too familiar voice called out. "Oh no." I mumbled, turning around. My mother stood there with a glare and a frown. Two other people from our pack was there along with Jordyn, who still had a mark from me slapping him. "Mother. I can explain." I stuttered. "Explain what, Deborah? That you're with someone from the other pack? I explained to you to not mingle with them." She growled and started taking me away from Jesse. "Mother stop!" I cried and pulled out her grip. But she just grabbed another hold on me.

"Mrs. Melendez, she told you to stop." Jesse said and grabbed me from her. "And what makes you think you can talk to me that way, boy?" She snapped at him. He looked at her for a second, like he was thinking. "Well?" My mother pressed.

Jesse took a deep breath. "Even though you are her mother, and you have every right to be mad. But you have no right to take her away from me." He said and pushed me behind him. "I will not allow to take MY mate away from me." He growled.
