Chapter 12 (Sonic)

Part Two

I poked my head around the corner of the air locked door, as the frigid air blew back my quills. I looked back at Tails and Knuckles, raising and eyebrow. They just shrugged their shoulders, looks of confusion crossing their faces. The room appeared to be empty, as I scanned from left to right. Tails tapped me on the shoulder, directing my attention away from my search.
"Umm Sonic... look up," Tails said meekly. He pointed upwards and revealed Blaze, being held up by a noose. In an instant, Shadow was up there with her, snapping the rope loose, and Blaze falling down. His eyes were filled with anger, no scratch that, rage. I knew this look all too well, and backed away quickly. Blaze gasped for air, her emancipated, weak figure looking insignificant to Shadow's figure.
"You imbecile! Why the hell would you do that!" He seethed with pure rage, "ANSWER ME YOU FOOL!"  Blaze started to shake, as if she was having a seizure, and I couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She certainly didn't want any of this, and Shadow was being a little harsh. Her lips were moving but no sound was coming out, and her face was a pasty white.
"YOU BETTER GET YOUR SORRY-" Shadow started, until Cream started shaking and crying, clearly petrified.
"Shadow, I think you've done enough," Amy said quietly, comforting Cream, who was in hysterics. I looked at Tails helplessly, knowing that Blaze was dying. Shadow's crimson eyes glanced around the room, realizing how much of a scene he made. He looked over at Cream, who flinched and shrunk down. For a split second, he looked like he had some sort of guilt streaks across his face, and it was one of the only times I've ever seen him lost for words. He looked around him, at the people who knew him best, and then he stopped, teeth clenching, and in an instant, he was gone. Everyone just stood there, shocked at what happened. Tails ran over to shaking Cream, taking her away from the dramatic scene. Rouge bolted out of the room, most likely to go find Shadow, and all that left was me, Amy, Knuckles, and Blaze.
"Wow...," Knuckles breathed, fazed by everything that just happened. I heard a wheeze behind me, and all of us spun around to see Blaze, attempting to stand for the first time. Knuckles almost immediately rushed over to her, helping her up into his arms, asking her questions. He walked out of the room, leaving me and Amy.
"Oh Sonic, what are we gonna do...?" Amy trailed off, looking into my eyes, looking for a genuine answer. I searched through her jade irises, looking for the answer that she wanted. But honestly, I was so unsure of everything that has gone on in the last year, my mind was just completely blank. I had to tell her the truth... it's what Amy always wanted anyways.
"Jeez Ames... I... I don't know...," I sighed, as she looked up at me, uncertain. Before I could react, her arms wrapped around my torso, and she pulled herself into my chest, resting her head there. I stood there shocked, my face turning a light pink, her sweet scent seeming to be the only thing that filled the air.
"Well, Sonic... no matter what happens... we will make through it... we always have," she said softly, looking up into my eyes. And for the longest time, it felt like we were the center of the universe, just standing in the middle of a empty prison cell, comforting each other with pure silence.
