They would be passed the larger waterfall soon, homed to many interesting creatures. Things such as water demons, kelpies and sprits would roam the areas, if Ember wanted to make it out without so much trouble she’d have to do so quickly. The water demons weren’t as bad as they sounded, mostly they’d try to lure you into their waters. As long as you didn’t enter when they asked you were safe, the only problem with that was they could take on forms in which you desired.

There really wasn’t anyone she desired, Ember suspected they could turn into her soul half but that would be their down fall. Unlike humans Ember was able to see threw their glamour so most of the time they didn’t even bother with her, to much work for no real reward. That and Ember could do some damage had they sunk their claws into her, it was a proven fact she was stronger then a normal mortal.

Jumping across rocks Ember was about to jump to another one when she noticed it was strangle different, pausing she squatting down poking it with her finger. When it move Ember stood up afraid her finger would be bitten off, the head of a large old loggerhead blinked at her. He was in the hundreds considering the size of his shell, smiling down at him he snorted.

“Young whippier snapper” He barked moving out of the way, Ember smirked at his old tongue. When she was little Len would tell her short stories of creatures that many believe fiction, the loggerhead was one of many. She’d learned that they were from a far away land where the sea consumed more the half the world, which wasn’t far off from this world. Stepping to another rock Ember took another look at the old turtle. Dipping under the cool waters he disappeared, shaking her head Ember could cross that off her list.

This world was teeming with life everything from humans to magical creatures, Ember wanted to see as many as possible before she died. If possible all of them it had been her bucket list of sorts, while most humans jumped off tall buildings or flew through the air Ember wanted to see creatures with her own eyes. It might have been her human blood leaking through that sought that out, or perhaps she was just so enthralled with the world she lived in that everything made her well aware of what to expect.

Passing through a meadow Ember took a deep breath, colors as far as the eyes could see stretched out over the meadow. Flowers of every type scattered in breathtaking ambience, bright red of poppies swayed back and forth while the more sturdy snap dragons in their pastel colors only moved a little. White lilies stuck out like tree branches, showing off their bright yellow centers for pollinating butterflies.

Cricket had journeyed back to his warmth sleeping as the sun became brighter, its harsh rays caressed the flowers making their petals open more fiercely to absorb its warmth. Half way threw the meadow and Ember felt eyes thick as molasses on her back, walking slowly she saw the dark shadow loom over head. Since running would be foolish Ember stopped allowing the large shadow to circle her, beating of wings caused her to look up placing a hand over her eyes to block out the sun.

Wings larger then Len flapped gusting wind around the flowers, talons shaper then any blade she’d ever held grabbed the flowery earth. A massive body bigger then some horses Ember has seen stood before her the tail of a lion flickered back and forth in an aggravated motion, gulping Ember followed the body to the eagle like wings. The head was bird like sharp pointed eyes blinked at her before the most high pitched shriek hurt her ears, cringing under the pressure Ember waited for him to stop.

As always Len was their to save her, his words ringing in her ears about the creatures she was to learn about. He’d told her that the Griffin though tough and strong was a loyal creature, one who valued the old rules from far beyond anyone’s time. Keeping her hands at her side Ember bowed her head, showing her respect to the mighty beast who could most defiantly kill her if it so wished. Rearing her head she noticed its eyes had softened, lowering its back end before closing its wings.

“You know of the old ways?” He asked in a deep voice she thought wasn’t possible for a bird, startled with the fact she was indeed going to be speaking to a mystical creature Ember cleared her throat.
“My teacher taught me, your grace” The deep rumble from his lion chest shook the ground making flowers dance, cocking his head back and forth he leaned closer to her.
“What are you doing in my Meadow…mix breed?” Ember bit her lip, she really hated being called that.
