Tucked safely between her breasts Cricket yawned a squeak before Ember locked eyes with everyone who had entered the main hall. She gulped tightening her fingers around Daniels forearm. There were so many. So many eyes, smiles, and whispers. Fidgeting Ember did her best to look the part as Daniel had instructed for her, but it wasn’t as easy as he made it seem it should be.
“Its okay Ember” He whispered covering it up with a kiss to her cheek, which sent a hot whimper of red across already flushed cheeks. She gave her best smile before her throat closed more.
Smiling to and fro Ember slowly relaxed as one by one she shook the hands of both the powerful and the limited in resources. Sounds of more showing caused her to silently groan, besides her fear of sweating palms- her feet were now fully on fire from the heels in which Daniel said were a much with that dress. She rolled her eyes inwardly. A warmth of safety began to spread about her body, but she shook it off as over heating from all the bodies in the room. Though large it was full to the corners.
Terrance had yet to make his appearance and upon asking for him Daniel had said he was finishing up some last minute detail. Nodding Ember sighed at the loud call to whoa horses. More people to greet she thought, as she picked up her dress and slowly made her way closer to the front entrance. A few growls from outside pricked her ears, raising a well manicured brow Ember held her dress in one hand as the other pushed open a door.
Idialing with snorting horses was a group surrounding what looked to be like men on the ground, tilting her head Ember caught the familiar groan and desisted green coloration of Russ. Her eyes widened as well as watered, forgetting all about being proper Ember dashed out of the mansion screaming his name. Daniel soon so close to her, she could feel his breath on the back of her neck. That moment she locked eyes with Russ she cried harder.
“What are you doing here? You could of gotten killed” Her eyes took in the sight of his blood covered body, the opening of wounds slightly clotted with thickly looking black blood. Barely able to sit up Russ had been dropped on the white stone pathway, some of his blood began to stain them. Turning the pearl of white to a rose pink.
“Aye Ember” It both purred while the wind whipped it about her hair. Snapping her neck Ember gasped, tears streaming down perfectly powered cheeks made her black eyeliner streak down.
“Len” She whispered biting her lip to hold back a sob. He stood just as tall as before, a little worse for wear but standing unlike Russ. Both bag and sword dropped to the ground as he slowly managed to open his arms to her. Ember cracked into a fit of tears, grabbing her dress roughly and bolting into his embrace.
“LEN!” She managed before her throat croaked.
“Aye lil Ember” Arms wrapped around her smaller frame as he rested chin to her head. A silence took over the mansion as every on look watched the strange reunion. That is till the rip of a roar crackled throughout the front yard, it shook the carriage and caused the horses to rear slightly. Peaking around Len, Ember gulped in both fear and shock. He was even more stunning up close, but her remembrance of what he had said snapped her back to reality.

Daniel had chased after Ember once he felt her wave of panic, it was unnatural for her to be putting off emotions such as those. It both frightened and angered him. His job was to protect and see to her every need…no matter what.
Though the thought of being her soul mate had crossed his mind many a times, Daniel new it wasn’t meant to be. He had a soul mate out there, one who he would belong to as she would him. Ember had one as well…or so he hoped. It was rare for a half breed to ever find the true soul mate. Seeing as how she was part of two different breeds.
He had heard many a stories of Russ and Len, so when she barked through tears their names he relaxed. The green fellow looked like death had done more then knock on his door, while Len a very well built man seems a little better. But Daniels concern was for the growing rage of power building up to the side of Len and Ember as Alpha Dean ground fangs together.
It was like he was holding a territorial stance, and all at once Daniel figured it out. The way he was looking at Ember being held in another males arms, the sheer force behind that particular growl clarified everything for Daniel. Dean was her soul mate.
Now it was all starting to make sense. The short versions of what had happened to Ember with her so called soul mate, the book on ripping the threads from a mate to another. Yes…he had seen that tucked away book she hid from him. It was his job, to know every little detail. And he’d been slightly curious as well to see what was so confidential that even Ember wouldn’t confide in him. It hurt to think she couldn’t speak freely about such a thing, until he realized what she was planning.
He couldn’t blame her, not after the small stories she’d told him about it. Daniel was smart enough to put the pieces together. But now he had a bigger problem. A male to his soul mate is overly protective and above all territorial to her being touched by anyone, especially another males touch. If Dean had his way, he’d tear that Len fellow into pieces just for moving a piece of Ember’s hair from eyes. Weather he wanted her or not, he wouldn’t allow another male to be her hero. OR anything for that matter.
Ember’s face proved it all, she knew who he was, but the sudden shift in her body caused Daniel to stay firm. Pulling out of Len’s arms she snatched her dress pulling it so her ankles popped while she neared Dean.Daniel held his breath, he’d once seen that look upon her eyes before. Dean was in for a big surprise.
