"So, Laura, was it?"

"Lucy."

"Right." Normani's lips lift up in a small smile that doesn't reach her eyes, " Tell me a little about yourself. I know you said you've heard a lot about me from Lauren but I've literally heard next to nothing about you from her. Hell, before last week, I didn't even know you existed."

"Well... most of the things Lauren and I do together aren't really stuff you talk about with your..." she tilts her head a little, a devious little smirk on her face, "temporary housemate ." She turns to Lauren, smirk still in place, "right baby?"

Lauren's about to pop a vein. Lauren's about to lose her shit. Lauren's about to have a damn heart attack. This was the worst idea in the history of bad ideas.

"Mani, the food's amazing. You've really outdone yourself. Right Lucy?" Lauren glares at her, daring her to say anything but yes.

Lucy frowns, pushing the food around with her fork. "I don't know. The meat's a little overcooked."

Lauren holds back a gasp and her eyes move to Normani. This is bad. This is so bad. Normani doesn't take very lightly to people disrespecting her food. Lauren will not be surprised if she beats the hell out of Lucy.

Normani purses her lips her folds her arms, leaning back on her seat, eyes blazing and face neutral, "the meat's a little overcooked?"

"Yeah." Lucy's bold ass responds, pushing her plate away, "I like my meat cooked just right. Don't I baby?"

Why oh why is she keeping up with this baby thing? Lauren doesn't even have enough energy to glare at her.

Normani scoffs and pushes her seat back. "Excuse me for a minute." She says politely. And Lauren would have honestly felt less scared if she was shouting.

"What the fuck are you doing? Are you trying to make sure she never talks to me ever again or what?" Lauren whisper-yells as soon as Normani is out of earshot.

Lucy has the audacity to look offended. "Do you have selective hearing or something? She came after me first."

"I don't care!" Lauren yells without meaning to. She leans in closer to Lucy, "if she gets mad at me over this I will do unspeakable things to you I swear." She pushes her chair back, not bothering to here what Lucy has to say.
....

Normani's at the sink when Lauren walks into the kitchen, wiping her hands off on a towel so violently that Lauren half thinks she's trying to shed her skin off. "What are you doing here, Lauren? Aren't you supposed to be with your baby?"

Evidently, she's pissed. Lauren leans on the counter, arranging the words she wants to say in her head. She doesn't need Normani getting any angrier than she already is. "I'm sorry about her." She says after a moment.

Normani places the dishtowel in its rightful place and turns around, her back against the sink, "who? Lacey?" She asks sarcastically.

Lauren can't help but laugh. "Her name's Lucy."

"Whatever her name is she's disrespectful as fuck. She said my chicken is overcooked, Lauren. My chicken."

Lauren laughs, she can't help it, "I'm sorry. She doesn't know what she's talking about. Dinner was perfect."

Normani glares at her, but the smile twitching at the corner of her lip makes her seem less serious than she intends to be. "I don't think she and I are ever going to get along."

She sounds apologetic. Lauren hates it. Her fingers twitch with the need to touch her. The words 'we're not even dating' are right at the tip of her tongue. But everything is overpowered bu her fear of having Normani angry at her. She doesn't deal very well with Normani not talking to her.
