*Cheyenne, Sloan, Thelma are mentioned in this chapter
1970 came along very quickly. Maybe it was because of the amount of photoshoots, events, and keeping busy with concerts and my family. It was the year that would mark the 10-year wedding Anniversary of James and I. It would also be Elvis' 35th birthday, which was a biggy!
Elvis invited me to his birthday celebration, which would be on the fifth of January. I would of assumed that he would throw a huge party at Graceland for his 35th birthday, but this wasn't the case.
Elvis: "I'm plannin' to rent out the Memphian theater on the fifth. Only family and close friends are comin', and I want you to come. As always, bring your kiddos too."
Me: "Ok, I need to bring Cheyenne so she can help watch the children. Elvis, why aren't you having a party at Graceland? I would expect a huge party for your 35th birthday."
Elvis: "I'm just gettin' older! Should I celebrate about that? And besides, I gotta head back to Vegas on the 10th to begin rehearsin' for my next Vegas engagement at the International Hotel. Colonel has me busy now!"
Me: "That's somewhat good and bad I assume? The children and I will be in Memphis on January 2nd, and stay in Memphis until the 6th."
Elvis: "Can you stay in Memphis for a couple of more days when you're there? Priscilla wanted to plan a birthday party for you, Joshua, and Rita."
Me: "I'll stay until the 15th of January. The children go back to school on the 17th."
On January 2nd, the children, Cheyenne, and I arrived in Memphis the morning of January 2nd, just as planned. My Aunt Audrey picked us up from the airport and immediately takes us to our summer house. All five of my children fell fast asleep in the car! When we arrived at the house, my Aunt, Uncle, and Cheyenne helped me carry some of my children.
A few minutes after arriving to the house, I recieved a call from Priscilla.
Priscilla: "Lilly, this is Cilla. I was wondering what you're doing today or tomorrow?"
Me: "Hi Cilla, I'll be resting with the children today. Tomorrow, I was actually going to call you about having lunch tomorrow?"
Priscilla: "Perfect, sounds great. We really need one of those girl talks. I need some advice."
Me: "Ok, we'll have one tomorrow. Bring Lisa Marie tomorrow. See you at my summer house at 1 o'clock in the afternoon?"
Priscilla: "Sure, see you tomorrow."
I hung up the phone, and went to relax on the couch. I decided to read the newspaper to see if there were any exciting and important news events happening. There was one news article that caught my attention. Mick Jagger and Sloan amicable split!
The article revealed that Jagger and Sloan amicably decided to split, after having some issues. They would have a joint-custody of their two children, Michaela and Reid. First of all, I never knew they had a son. Second, I thought they tied the knot already. And third, I was somewhat shocked? I recieved a telegram from Sloan asking if we could talk soon, giving me her new number.
Sloan: "Who the hell is calling at this time?"
Me: "Sloan? It's Lillian. I recieved your telegram twenty minutes ago? Sorry if I woke you up."
Sloan: "Oh, hello Lillian! Sorry that I jumped at you like that... Everyone who knows me know that the children take a nap at this time. I moved to England a couple of years ago.. I'm not sure if you know that Mick and I split up."
