I laid in bed staring up at the bare ceiling, I couldn't sleep. I peaked through the window and up at the night sky, the stars looked brighter than ever. I raced downstairs and out the front door, plopping down on the grass and laying back, looking up at the sky. It felt comforting, no matter where you are everyone sees the same sky. Whether you in LA or Tennessee, India or Indiana, during the day you see the sun and the clouds, at night you see the moon and the stars.

"Ya know most people use a tent when they camp out?" a familiar voice startled me, "Sorry I didn't mean to scare you!" Jc said with concern.

"Oh it's fine, I'm always just a little on edge." I laughed sitting up.

"What are you looking for?" he said sitting down next to me.

"Nothing, I couldn't sleep so I came out here to see the stars." I laughed laying back and staring up at the night sky.

"You stare up there alot!" he laughed laying down next to me, his arm pressing up against mine, his warm soft skin felt comforting against mine.

"Something about the sky makes me feel at home. My dad used to say that no matter where you are in the world, everyone sees the same sky. Whether you're in Alaska or Alabama, Australia or Canada, Heaven or Hell. During the day you see sun and clouds, at night you see stars and the moon." I felt myself getting choked up.

"That's some deep shit!"

"And shooting stars are the angels flicking their cigarettes before God catches them." I said in all seriousness.

"That, not as much." Jc let out loud, cute laugh. Something about him felt like home. "What are you doing tomorrow afternoon?"

"Ummm," I froze, nothing I was doing nothing but I couldn't tell him that. "I don't know."

"Umm, well if your free you should come to the Grove with me and my roommates and a couple other people. It would be a good chance to meet some people and I can show you around, help you with some shopping if you need to. We could get some food even. I mean if you want to." he said turning his head to face me. I thought it over in my head, I did need to do some shopping, perhaps Mel would approve it as a shopping trip, I mean I would be blending which is what I was supposed to be doing.

"That sounds awesome! Actually I do need to do some shopping and I would love for you to show me around, I don't really know the area at all." As I spoke all I could think about was shit why am I so awkward and shit what is Mel going to say.

"Alright! I'll come get you around one and we can drive into the city with my friends, I promise you'll love them. They're pretty great." He laughed standing up. "I will see your beautiful face tomorrow Olivia!" Jc sprinted towards his house, I sat up and watched him run the entire way. I was giddy inside, I laid back shrieking, he thinks I'm beautiful! I looked up at the stars, thinking about my mom and how excited I would be to tell her about my first date, about a good looking boy telling me I am beautiful. I teared up and headed inside laughing as I thought about how much my dad would be freaking out if he knew. I sprinted upstairs and flung open the closet doors, after about two hours of trying on outfits I had finally found one that I felt comfortable in. I looked at the clock, 1:42. Shit! If I was going to look acceptable tomorrow I needed to get some sleep, I threw my pajamas back on and crawled into bed. Falling asleep almost as soon as my head hit the pillow, thoughts of the afternoon to come filling my head.
