*Parker*

When I woke up the next morning, dad was sleeping on the couch beside my hospital bed. Wait my hospital bed!? Why am I in the hospital! Oh well, I guess it was quite funny actually cause a grown man is sprawled out on a tiny hospital couch.

The door slowly creeks open and dad stirs slightly, but doesn't fully wake up.

"You're awake." Uncle Jack slips in the room silently. "What are you doing up so early?"

I glance over at the clock. 5:15 am.

"I didn't realize it was this early. What are you doing here so early?"

"Couldn't sleep. " He shifts slightly. "I had a lot on my mind. "

I realize his condition. His eyes are red and he has bags under his eyes, but he has his signature goofy smirk– only a more tired smirk.

"Do you wanna go explore the hospital?" I suggest.

"I'll go get a doctor to get a wheelchair or something. " He scrambles out. He comes back not a minute later with a nurse and a wheelchair. Together they lift me into the wheelchair and prop up my cast covered leg. The nurse teaches me how to move the chair and hooks all of my IV bags to the chair.

"The doctor will be in here to run some tests in a few hours. Be back by 7. " She smiles slightly and leaves the room.

Uncle Jack carefully pushes me down the halls. He seems to be in some sort of daydream because he flinched when I asked him: "What happened yesterday?"

"What?" He says startled. "What happened yesterday. I can't remember anything after the mall.  Why am I in a cast?"

He stops suddenly. I turn as best I can to see him- which isn't very good. He sees my struggle and moves in front of me. "Well-" He hesitates. "Please tell me." I plead.

"Well-," He tears up. He briefly recounts all that happened. I listen closely– the moments slowly coming back to me. I can tell that the event was affecting him in a bad way; so I changed the subject. "Where are heading next?"

He gave me a peculiar look. "You're in the hospital, and you're wondering where we're going next?" I nodded. Then he mumbled something that sounded like, "This kid has her priorities straight. "

"We were gonna head to Las Vegas tomorrow and San Diego two days afterward, but we don't know when you'll be released. " I nodded again in understanding.

We had moved on to another topic– Uncle Jack was telling me stories about tour– when we found a garden. Well it was more of a sunroom for the kids to hangout in. There were cinderblock seats and realistic looking plants.

"And that's how you convince your friends into celebrating your birthday month. " I laugh once he finishes him story. It bounced off the walls of the room.

Then I had a request that came to me suddenly: "Can you tell me about when I was living with you?"

He looked stunned at the request but complied. "Okay let's see. One of my favorite memories was of our Halloween. You wanted to be a witch, but they were out of your size. So you started bawling in the middle of the store. I have to admit it was kinda adorable. " I punch him in the shoulder.  "Ok. Ok. Sorry. Anyway Zack was calming you down while everyone else was scouring for anything even remotely similar to a witch. Then we found a Captain America costume for you with a little tutu and everything. That year we went as superheroes. That's how you got your nicknames for us. "
