Chapter 9: On Top Of The World

4 weeks later

I'm woken up by a pillow hitting me repeatedly.

"Unless you are Gerard Way coming to tell me that MCR is getting back together, please leave." I mumble out.

"How about Josh Dun here to see my birthday twin?" The voice chuckles.

I bolt up only to see the pink haired boy laughing at me. I stare at him, my mouth dropped open.

"What did you do to the poor girl?" A new voice asks. I turn to the door where Tyler Freaking Joseph is standing.

"I think I broke her." Josh answers tapping my shoulder.

"How did you manage to break a human?" He asks coming up beside Josh.

Do they expect me to be able to breathe right now?

"Umm... I don't think she's breathing." Josh points out.

"I- Ba- Me- I'm just gonna." I stutter out. I get out of my bed dazed. I walk downstairs in my Batman pajamas, straight to dad.

"Um... Did Josh and Tyler come here or do I need sleep?" I ask.

"They're here. Go get ready kiddo."

I go back to my room, still dazed, only to see that they're not here. I shake my head to clear it. I pick out my outfit for the day then go shower, brush my teeth, and get dressed. I put on a maroon tee shirt, black overall shorts, and tie a black and white flannel around my waist. I pull on my black converse, and put my hair in a simple high ponytail.

I walk down the stairs to see everyone at the table, including Josh and Tyler. I take a seat between Josh and Uncle Joe.

Everyone has a plate of food except me. Dad gets up and comes back with a plate of pancakes with sprinkles in them and a candle on top.

Then they start singing Happy Birthday to me, while I sit there awkwardly.

Honestly I had forgotten it was my birthday.

It sounded great. Especially with Uncle Joe singing purposely off-key in my ear. Please note the sarcasm in that sentence.

"Thanks." I say awkwardly after I blow out the candle and make my wish.

We dig into our pancakes. "So how does it feel to be double digits?" Tyler asks.

"I don't know, the same I guess."

You should ask Uncle Pete how it feels to be triple digits. Haha I need a life.

After we finish our pancakes, I ask a question to no one in particular. 

"Why are Tyler and Josh here anyway?"

"About that," Dad starts. "We have a band meeting all day today. We didn't want you to sit through a meeting all day on your birthday."

"And we were in town, so we're going to spend the day with you." Tyler smiles his adorable smile.

"Ok, cool I guess." I fake smile. I'm really sad that I won't be able to spend my birthday with my dad, but I can't let them know that.

"Have fun." Dad kisses my head. Josh and Tyler skip, yes skip, out the door and into the car. I follow them into the car and Tyler starts driving.
