Chapter 29 :
I sit there in nothing but silence.
Everything around me has stopped living.
My breathing has slowed.Silence is deadly.
It leaves you alone with your thoughts and memories that haunt you. That makes you second guess every decision you've ever made in you're life.
I stare out into the darkness of Francis's guest room having no intention of even making the slightest movement. The shadows lurk in each empty corner taunting me and the voices inside me. I stay petrifyingly still, except for the small tear that has escaped my hazel eyes.
"Bree," I hear his angelic voice travel in sound waves from the other side of the wooden door.
I stay still enough to hear his quiet breathing on the other side of the wood. I crave touch but flinch every time someone comes too close. I'm hollowed out because I push everyone into a corner.
"Brella," the heavenly sound erupts again in my ears.
"It's open," the noise slowly makes its way out my vocal cords. I sit in the middle of the bed criss-crossed and my hands folded together.
Chase doesn't make no move to turn on the lights, he closes the door and then makes his way over. He sits on the edge of the bed and stares at me with his piercing eyes.
I stare ahead at him too embarrassed to look him in the eyes. "He's not dead," I say almost catatonically.
He inhales before saying "The demon...?"
I swallow back tears. My voice cracks as I say "it's Leondro... the demon's-" my voice gets stuck in my throat.
"I had no idea. You deserve happiness, Brella. You deserve anything that you wish for," when he stops talking our voices linger between us.
When the silence becomes unbearable I hear him shift his weight before I feel his arms wrap around me and I'm pressed against his strong body. I burry my head in the crook of his neck. He smells like spearmint soap and I find myself slowly smiling against his skin.
He keeps me gently engulfed in him until my chest stops raising. He keeps me close even though I've pulled back to face him. His lips tug into genuine smile before he closes the space in between us.
His mouth moves in sync with mine as my eyes flutter shut. His kiss is gentle on my soft lips and I begin to crawl my fingers up his neck and tangle them in his brown locks of hair. Chase keeps his hands on either side of my waist as he leans me deeper into the bed.
The corners of my lips tug into a smile and I feel him smiling against my lips as well. His kiss sends exotic acid through my body which makes a fire ignite within me.
I've never felt this before. I've never felt true bliss explode within me. Every part of me that has came from a dead star is alive in this very moment.
I'm kissing Heaven while I'm living in Hell. My lungs inflate with the sweetest air possible yet I find myself nearly gasping for air when his lips leave mine to look at me.
"You're gifted, Brella," his voice comes out in hushed whispers. "In every way imaginable, and it's impossible not to fall madly in love with every single feature that dances on you're gorgeous soul."
I didn't think it was possible for even more blood to flush my pale cheeks. His words can make you feel like you're floating with the clouds and his touch sends electricity through your veins.
