Chapter 9

*After 2 hours of cleaning up the cafeteria*

*Robert's POV*

"Finally done cleaning the cafeteria...," Sara sighs.

"Yup, who thought we would make such a mess?"

"Everyone," Sara giggled.

"Right...Sara...?"

"Yes."

"I need to ask you--:"

BUZZ--

"Oh, sorry, Robert. It's my mom."

"What did she say?"

"She said that she's coming in a few minutes to pick me up. Now, what was that thing you were going to ask me?"

"Um, Sara, I knew we been through a lot ,and this has been a rock year. But...Will you go out with me sometime?"

"Can I tell you tomorrow?"

"Yeah, sure. Take your time."

BUZZ--

"Robert, my mom's here. See you tomorrow."

"See you later, Sara," I say, waving.

I hear a car horn, Dad!

I run to his car and hop in.

"Hey, Robbie."

"Hey, Mom."

"What was so important that you had to do afterschool?"

"I had to clean up the cafeteria with Sara, the girl from Subway."

"Why did you have to clean it up with her."

"Because we both started a food fight."

"Oh, well at least you didn't get detention."

"Here's the thing, I asked Sara out..."

"I'm so proud of you, honey!"

"You are?"

"I never thought you would ask anyone out, after what happened with Rita."

"How do you know about Rita?"

"I know because I'm your mother."

"Good enough."

*Sara's POV*

"We're home, honey."

I get out of the car, and immediately ring the bell. My mom comes and opens it.

"Where have you been, Sara?"

"Cleaning the cafeteria."

"Oh, well, head on upstairs and freshen up. Then we'll discuss what happened."

I go upstairs and I get out my phone, and text Ava and Diana on the science squad group chat.

Me: Robert asked me out.

Ava: YES. It's happening! You have to say yes.

Diana: Say yes. Make the squad proud.

Me: I'll say yes.

Diana: But?

Me: Rita's out for revenge.

Diana: Rita won't so anything. She's a little sixth grader.

Ava: Ya, she won't get her 'revenge' bc Diana and I won't let that happen.

Diana: Yup. Say yes.

Me: I'll say yes. Thx guys.

Ava: Anytime.

Diana: My pleasure.

I email Robert on hangouts.

Me: Yes.

Roberts: What?

Me: I'll go out with you

Robert: ^_^

*The next day*

"So, spill all the details. I heard about the food fight," Laurel shrieked.

"Yeah, Robert and I had to clean the mess up."

"Ooh, robara."

"Yeah, about that. Robara is official."

"Yes, I've been waiting for this since 'the day of the sub'."

"You've been waiting a month for robara?"

"Yeah, and it was worth it."

BUZZ--

"Speaking of Robert, that must be him."

Robert: Would you like to go to a movie?

Me: R U SERIOUS?

Robert: More serious than I ever been.

Me: When?

Robert: what?

Me: When r u inviting me to see the movie?

Robert: Maybe after school? If that's okay

Me: of course. at Amstar theatre right?

Robert: Yup. Me and my mom can take you there.

Me: Sure, what time?

Robert: 7?

Me: Definitely. See u in Science <3

Robert: <3 <3

I show Laurel our recent texts.

"Aww, even your convos over text are adorable."

"Haha, thanks."

"You got to tell Ava."

"Of course I am, I'm going to tell the squad."

*Science*

"Ava, Diana, I have news. Robert asked me out to a movie?"

"Aww, Robara is finally official!" Ava bubbled.

"When?"

"Seven."

"What movie?" Diana chirped.

"We don't know yet."

"Oh, well I heard there's this movie called La La Land, or whatever."

"Oh, I heard of that, I'm not really into it."

"Whatever, it's just a suggestion."

"Speaking of Sara's boyfriend, here he comes our way," Ava shrieks.

Robert approaches our way.

"Hey."

"Hey."

"Excited for our date?"

"Yeah, I can't wait."

Diana and Ava's eye lit up.

"A example of true love is robara," Ava declared.

"So true," Diana agreed.
