I watched as Christian went up to Skylar and practically jumped into her arms. It made me so happy to see him happy. I loved to see my son happy and it made Nick happy too. Smiling I went to mine and Nicks room and put our stuff away. Since we only had one bag and all our clothes in it were dirty it was pretty easy to put them away. I dumped all our clothes into the hamper and put our duffle bag in the closet. We had a large closet with two rods so it was easy to keep our clothes divided. I kept my clothes on the top rod and he kept his on the bottom. Christian had his own little dresser. so he was set. As I sat there on the bed I thought about all the things that had just happened. I wasn't exactly settled with the fact that Christian had to share a room with his mother and father and that the house was always a mess due to his toys. I decided it was time to consider buying the house across the street. It wasn't all that big and needed a little work but it was actually really nice. It only cost $52,000. It was a medium sized house. It was a 3 bed 2 bath. It also had a kitchen, pantry, dining room living room with a fire place and so much more that just looked like a nice house and I wanted it.
"So what are you thinking about?" Nick came into the room.
"That house across the street." I smiled.
"You know, I was thinking about that a few days ago. It would be nice to live across the street from your parents and for Christian to have his own room. Plus we would have a spare room for a guest..." he put his hands around me, "or someone else."
"Nick, we talked about this." I said sadly but slightly annoyed.
"I know it..." Nick sat on the bed. "I just wish that old creeper wouldn't have done what he did."
"What's done is done and it's time to move on."
"You're right. Besides we have a son."
"And he's perfect for me!"
All the rest of that day Nick and I spent thinking about getting the house. We decided to bring up the topic at dinner that night. We both had a feeling that it wouldn't go over easy with my mom or dad but we didn't care. It was time for us to get out on our own.
At dinner we looked around and Nick smiled at me. I looked at my mom. She knew I had something on my mind but was wondering why I was struggling bringing it up. She simply smiled and looked from me to Nick and then at Christian.
"Nick and I would like to bring up a matter of business." I finally decided to break the silence.
"You're moving into the house across the street." my dad said.
I said nothing but say there and looked down. I knew it was coming. Mom was going to get upset and I was going to feel guilty. Instead she smiled. "It would be nice for Christian to have his own room." my mom smiled.
"You're not upset?" I said.
"Why no!" mom smiled. "It would be nice to see Christian running around in his own yard."
"Plus if he ever wants to come see me and your mom he can always come right over." my dad said.
"Alright!" Nick said.
We all finished dinner with smiles and happiness. Mom and my older sister helped my mom do the dishes and Nick and I went out to take care of the animals. We smiled and laughed about random things as we walked along and fed, watered, gave meds, baking soda and minerals. Once we were done I bathed Christian and got him into the bed. After getting Christian into bed I went into the living room. Skylar was sitting on the couch. Judging by her face and how she had her arms crossed over her chest sunk into the couch and staring at me I knew something was wrong and it was me. I sat down next to her. She stopped staring at me and ignored me. Yep, it was me. I decided to pull a child move. I lay across her lap and put my head on her knee. That made her sneak a smile but she bounced her knee and almost made me fall. "Get off me." she said 'angrily'.
