It's been almost seven months since our last baby goat was born. They were getting so bug, and so was Christian. Tomorrow was his first birthday! Over the past seven months we had learned that Christian was behind on his developing motor skills. He was just barely learning to walk and he wasn't able to keep food in his mouth. This resulted in a lot of work and training. We had to do several different things to help him develop better and he was finally learning to do things properly for his age.

I turned around one minute and Christian was crawling on the floor. He would become either tired of walking or just be lazy and crawl or drag himself all around the house. I smiled and picked him up. Sitting him on the counter I finished the dishes while he played in the water with his hand. I loved doing dishes with Christian on the counter. Yes it got messy but it was also easy to clean up since it was just water. He loved to take a cup and dip it in the water then pour it on his hands. I remember once when he was up there he leaned over and accidentally fell into the dish water. I thought he would be scared of water for the rest of his life but he still loves it.

After I did the dishes I decided to take a stroll out in town. My dad was at work and my mom went to an American Dairy Goat Association meeting so I was home alone with Christian. As I went through town I got a weird feeling. Like I was being followed. I looked behind me in my rear view mirror. It was a dark black car. It wasn't Skylar because Skylar drives a Torres. I knew almost every car all my friends drove around here and that car wasn't any of theirs. I decided to test my theory of being followed. I made a few pointless turns and got back on the road I was driving on. The car was still behind me. I pulled into a parking lot and locked the doors. The car pulled up next to me. I couldn't see anything though the tinted windows. I began to freak out. I heard the door on the other side open. Due to the light I was able to make out a guy figure but as soon as I saw it, it was gone.

He came up to my car from the back side and knocked on the window. I was almost afraid to look. But I did. To my surprise it was Nick. I was filled with relief as I unlocked the car door. I was also surprised that he was here because he originally lived in Gurden near Arkadelphia. I got out and punched him in the arm.

"What was that for?" he laughed.

"For making me think you were a killer or kidnapper following me!" I crossed my arms.

"So what have you been up to lately?" he asked

"Taking care of Christian and living on a farm."

"Christian?"

I pointed to the back seat. Christian looked up and smiled his four teeth smile then held up his keys that nana got him the other day. "He's about to turn a year old tomorrow."

Nick looked at me. "But I thought you couldn't..." he paused.

"He's legally adopted."

"Oh! So hows your old man?"

"I don't know. We divorced almost a year ago. After abuse and threats I got in my car and came home with my dog."

"I'm sorry."

"It's not your fault."

"So what are you doing today?" he smiled changing the subject.

"I'm actually just hanging out on the town with the baby today. Just thought I would get off the farm for a little while and enjoy the town."

"Yeah, it's nice to just get away from everything." he looked around, "Hey do you like Mexican or Bar-B-Q?"

"Both." I said. "Why?"

"I was thinking maybe you and I could eat at the Mexican restaurant here in town."

"Alright."

We both got into our cars and I followed him there. On the way there I smiled and thought about how long it had been since we had seen each other. Wow it's been almost five years!
