We finally got moved into the new house and were settled in in no time. Christian was in Kindergarten now and he was getting off the bus and going to Nana's house till we got home then we spent the majority of the day at my parents house then we returned home. Our house was perfect and our lives were perfect. Nick and I worked and Christian went to school and was involved in family every day. I was happy and so was Nick. We spent a while just having fun and goofing off while celebrating. Nick had everything set up. We didn't have to pay anything at all on our house. We had solar powered electricity, water from a well, and fire and gas heating systems. Nothing came from any companies.
For two months we enjoyed the time we had and just lived life to the fullest. I loved having him with me and seeing him spend time with Christian made me smile every time. We went to work, came home, changed, enjoyed Christian for a little while then we went over to my parents house to help out on the farm. We loved our lives and everything was so perfect. I smiled as I walked down the the field of the farm and watched as Nick and Christian carried a bucket of feed. Christian had his own little bucket and was joyfully skipping beside Nick going towards papa and nana to give his bucket to them so they could empty it and send him off to refill it.
We would always sit down to dinner with my family and we would all have a talk about how our day was. Finally we would all go to the living room and sit there and watch T.V. while we all cuddled up together. Nick would sit on the floor with Christian playing ball with him. Mom and dad would sit in their recliner going back and forth from watching Christian and Nick to watching Criminal Minds. my brother and sister sat on the couch. Skylar and I sat on the love seat. We had plenty of furniture to sit on but we always spaced out.
Skylar looked at me then at Nick. She smiled her one little smile that always made me laugh. She would show all her teeth and squint her eyes and tilt her head either up or to one side. This time is was to the left. That one was a classic. I smiled and reached for a hug. She took it like she always did and we sat there smiling and having fun. Everyone was just perfect.
As I slept that night curled up to Nick I felt a small pain in my back. I though Nick was bumping me or something so I ignored it. Besides it has been happening for a few months now anyway. The pain came again then again. Finally I turned over to tell Nick to stop. But when I turned over the pain was sharp and hard to bare. It almost sent me into tears. I woke up Nick and told him what was going on.
"I'll take you to the hospital." he said.
"What about Christian? He has school tomorrow." I asked in tears.
"I'll call Skylar. You need to go to the hospital if it's putting you in tears."
I called Skylar and asked her to come over for a bit.
"You do know it's the middle of the night right?" Skylar yawned.
"Skylar Please!" I cried.
She could hear the tears and the choke in my throat. She hung up and within minutes our front door opened. I heard Skylar's footsteps coming down the hall. She opened the door and saw me in tears. She came over to me and went to hug me. I pushed her away and put my arms around my waist. "Adalayde what's the matter?" Skylar was serious now.
"I don't know." I cried.
Nick came over and picked me up. He carried me to the car. Skylar stood at the door and waited for us to be out of sight before she closed the door. Nick raced his self to the hospital in Ozark. It wasn't exactly a very good one but it was the closest.
We got inside and the nurses got to work right away. Every time they did something to me it hurt. Finally they got the doctor in. He asked me to lay back while he listened to my stomach, heart, and lungs. I did so carefully and he smiled. "Sir can I see you out in the hall?" he smiled at Nick.
