Chapter 10: Yes or no?

~Layla's p.o.v~

I was sitting in my room watching tv when I got a call. I expected it to be Sophia, but it wasn't. It was David, Sophia have me his number just in case, and I'm guessing she gave him my number.

"David?"

"Hey Layla, I need to talk to you."

*Later*

I called Sophia later that day.

"Hey Sophia! I figured since we haven't talked in a little while we should have a girls day today."

"Sorry lay, I can't. I have a lot of homework to do today."

"Oh, come on Soph! We never hang out as much as we used to. Pleasssee!"

She was quiet for a little while so I'm pretty sure she was considering it.

"Ok sure. We can have a girls day, where are we going?"

"Yes! Ok well we can get lunch, we'll go get our nails done, we'll go to the mall, and then we can go to the pond by the park!"

"Sounds good, but why are we going to the pond?"

"Because I said so. Meet me at the mall in 30 minutes."

"Uhhh ok? I'll see you soon, I guess?"

"Yep! Ok see ya!" I said as I hung up. I hope she didn't suspect anything.

*At The Mall*

~Sophias p.o.v~

Layla was acting really weird while we were at the mall, she kept getting phone calls and leaving me so she could go answer them. I have no Idea what is going on with her.

"So I was thinking that maybe I would get my nails p-"

*Ring Ring Ring*

"Sorry Soph, I have to take this." She said while walking away.

"Again?" I said annoyed

She stopped and turned around before answering the phone.

"I'm sorry but it's really important. Family business, you know how it is."

"Yeah, ok." I said. I glimpsed at the caller id on her phone and had to do a double-take. It wasn't any member of her family, it was David!

David is not part of Layla's family, so why did she lie to me? I thought. Has David been the one calling her the entire time? What is going on? I was getting really confused. I gave him her number for emergencies, not so they'll talk to each other behind my back and lie about it.

At this point I started getting mad. What if they're talking about me behind my back? Or worse...what If David's been cheating on me with my best friend!

My heart started to pound. But it slowly died down when I realized I was being ridiculous. Layla already found her soulmate, and she loves him. Plus Layla and David care about me, they wouldn't do something like that to me, right?

Layla hung up the phone and walked back to me.

"So how about we go get our nails done!" She said happily.

"Sure, why not." I said flatly.

"Hey, you ok?"

"Just fine."

"Soph, don't lie to me, If you're upset about the calls I've been getting I'm sorry, but it's important."

That infuriated me.
