Chapter 1- Denial?

"I just don't think he'll ever get adopted. I'm not trying to be mean! I'm just saying, he's already thirteen and has a very bad reputation." Says Mrs. Kai, one of the helpers here at the orphanage.

"I know what you mean, but we can't just throw him out on the street. We made a blood promise, remember?" Replied Mr. Chlome, the owner of this hell hole. The truth is, I'd rather be on the street, but apparently that's against the law.

"I know, how could I forget, he's also the Blood Master's only son, and heir to his title. But he's also a pain in the ass to place in a home." She said, jut soft enough that I couldn't hear.

"Exactly, I have an idea, I'll go talk to him." he replied, with anger edging into his voice.

I run into my room, and plop on my bed, trying to look casual. A few seconds later I hear footsteps and a knock on the solid oak door, the only thing separating me and the devil on earth. "Come in," I say, while thinking go back to hell.

He walks in, quickly glancing around the room as if analyzing it for something. Then he walks up to me and puts his hand on my shoulder. I really hate it when he does that, because it means he's about to say something he thinks is important, but really isn't worth crap.

"Hey, I just wanted to tell you that we have someone who wants to adopt you." He says trying to hide the anger and fear in his voice.

"What jerk would ever want to adopt me. I've lived here for ten years, and I've been hit with denial exactly 1,692 times, i counted every single one of them as they walked out those doors. Why would you ever tell me this, it'll just be more denial!" I scream, trying to hold back the urge to do a hit and run.

"Calm down, this person has already made up their mind, and they are definitely going to adopt you." He replies, almost too calmly.

"Fine. Then tell me, who would ever even think about adopting me?" I ask, the anger draining out of me.

He smirks, almost evilly before replying, "Me."
