LEO AND Trans!JI YES YESYEYS

*Guang Hong Ji

I waited patiently at the train station, my foot tapping quietly against the sidewalk. White and pink bubbles float all around me, and I turn around to see a group of kids kicking piles of cherry blossoms that have gathered at the bases of the trees outside the station. I smile and pick up a small handful of the petals and set them in my lap.

China at this time of the year was beautiful, especially in my small town. I looked up at the light blue and purple sky above me, and smile. Today was such a beautiful day- the gods must've reserved this weather for today. A light blush spread across my cheeks, and I squeezed the petals in my hands. Any minute now.

As I'm waiting on my bench and scrolling through my Instagram feed, a young girl runs up to me, her mother chasing right behind her, yelling at her to slow down. She taps my shoulder and when I look at her, a wild blush erupts on her cheeks, and she bows her head, squeaking, "Guang Hong Ji! My name is Bo, and you're the best skater in China, and my idol! I hope I can compete in the men's GP too! Please shake my hand!"

Her mother rolls her eyes behind the girl and says, "You mean the women's, Bo."

Bo turns around, huffing to her mother, "No, the men's! That way Guang Hong can compete against me!"

My cheeks grow hotter and I smile wide. The girl couldn't have been older than five or six, and I gently take her hand in mine and pat her head softly with the other. She looks at me with wide eyes and I grin at her. "Thank you, Bo!" She then grins even wider at this, and then shes hugging me tightly. I can hear her mother gasp behind her, but I just giggle lightly and hug the girl back.

"I'm gonna be a really good skater when I grow up, too! I can already do a turn!" She shouts happily, jumping down to show me her spinning in circles. I clap my hands and laugh, shouting "Bravo! Bravo!" at each one.

"I can already tell you're gonna be amazing!" I say, and place one of my petals in her hair. She grins, and runs off, her mother shooting me an apologetic look as she chases after the little girl.

I smile. I can remember being exactly like her. I look down at my petals, and hold back a few tears as I continue to wait for him.

A few minutes later, a train speeds by, and screeches to a stop before me. I smile wide and jump up, running clumsily to the yellow line with the pile of blossoms in my hands. The doors open, and only a few pour out of the exits. I worriedly search for his face in the crowd, and people give me a few odd stares. My hands are shaking, and I'm trying to not drop the petals.

Then, he steps off, and he's in front of me.

His face is more beautiful when it's not painted with pixels.

I throw the petals toward him, in the air like confetti, and shout, "Leo!" as I throw my arms around him.

Everything seems to go in slow motion as he stumbles back a small bit in surprise, but quickly recovers. He wraps his arms around my waist, and puts his face in my hair, squeezing me tightly. The pressure hurts my binder in a slight way, so I pull back and smile widely, wiping a few tears that escaped. Suddenly, Leo's face is wrinkled in concern and he asks, "Why are you crying? Are you okay?"

I laugh and shake my head, taking his hands in mine. "I'm very happy to see you, Leo."

He smiles warmly and kisses my knuckles. "Me too, Ji."
