So since I've been away, Catching Fire has been released, and I think we can all agree that it was probably one of the most accurate book/film adaptations ever.
But some films (Cough cough Percy Jackson) were not so.
So here are some things that annoy me about adaptations.
1) Missing characters. Madge Undersee (The Hunger Games). Uriah (Divergent) .Bonnie and Twill (Catching Fire). All important characters from books that weren't/ won't be included in the films. I don't really think anything more needs to be said.
2) Bad Casting. When actors are cast who look nothing like their assigned character. My best example to demonstrate this is Alexandra Daddario as Annabeth Chase in Percy Jackson And The Olympians.
Don't get me wrong, she's a good actress, but she was COMPLETELY wrong for Annabeth. I can't blame her for taking the job when she was offered it because, well money is money and everyone could do with money.
Basically this is why she's wrong for the role:
A) Annabeth is blonde and Alex is brown-haired (Eventhough her hair was dyed for Sea of Monsters, just not for Lightning Thief)
B) In The Lightning Thief book, Annabeth is 12 years old, at the time the movie was released, Alex was 23 (Almost 24)
I mean, I think in the film she was meant to be 16 or something but thats Heroes of Olympus Annabeth, not Percy Jackson And The Olympians Annabeth.
and C) Book Annabeth (To Percy): You drool in your sleep
Flim Annabeth: I have feelings for you, I just don't know whether they're positive or negative yet (ROUGHLY QUOTED)
3) Separate parts. Seriously, does every last book in a series need 2 parts? Thank the Lord for Divergent, where we can have our hearts ripped out in one go instead of having a year long gap!
4) Haters. I didnt know what to call this section :S
But I mean people who judge the books by the films (Cough cough Abbie Porter), and then refuse or unnecessarily criticize the book because of the film (Take note Abbie)
