"Well well well... look what the cat dragged in..." The evil look on his face told me he was extremely mad.

"Where the fuck have you been?!?" His words were starting to slur and I just knew he was drunk. No surprise there.

"I-I had to take Skye to her friends house. It was Alice's birthday." Great! Now is not the time for me to stutter.

"Ah my precious Skye..." a smirk crept onto his face as he said her name, but I knew however much he hated me he would never hurt Skye. Well he tried not too, sometimes he got so drunk he'd hit her, but no where near as bad as what he does to me! I wouldn't let him! She was his own blood. The only reason he hated me because he loved my mom but she already had me. He pretended to 'love' me when my mum was around but as soon as she was out of sight he'd pinch me or whisper horrible things into my ear. When my mum died is when things got awful.

"She better be safe!" And with that was my first punishment of the night. I fall to the ground with a heavy thud as the excruciating pain filled my stomach. The first hit was always the worst. In the end you sort of get used to it. I make sure not to make a sound, it only seems to make him want to hit me more.

After what felt like forever, I peel myself off the ground to check the time and see I have at least an hour before I have to pick Skye up.

Reaching my bathroom I strip off my wrinkled and bloodied clothes to hop into the shower. I let the cold water splash against my body whilst waiting for it to warm up. Victor got too carried away this time. He ended up getting so wound up he punched my face, resulting in a bust lip and what will most likely end up a bruise around my eye. So good for being careful.

Once I'm out of my shower I quickly put on some clean clothes and shove my hair into a messy bun, not bothering to dry it. I end up putting a bit of concealer under my eye just to help cover up some already forming purpleness.

I try to hurry out the front door before Victor  catches me, but it seems I shouldn't have to worry, he's passed out on the couch in the living room.

I get more and more nervous as I approach Alice's house, scared to death that her mom would notice my bruise forming and my bust lip.

I ring the doorbell twice just to make sure they heard and me sure enough a few seconds later, Alice's mom, Ruby, answered then door with her usual welcoming smile.

"Lily! Your here!" Excitement filling her voice.

"Yeah I am" I said chuckling so Ruby doesn't know I'm serious.

"Skye's been ever so good so no need to worry. In fact she even offered to help clean up but I insisted that her and Alice go have more fun before you come. She's very mature for her age you know."

"Oh I know, she takes after her mom and me." Ruby seems to have noticed how quiet I spoke of mom, as next thing I know I'm being wrapped in a hug.

"I'm so sorry about your mom. You know she'll be looking down at you from above beaming with proudness of how her two amazing daughters are coming to be." At that moment I let a tear roll down my cheeks.

"LILY!!" A very energetic Skye comes bounding towards me.

"Hey there Giggles. Did you have fun?" Skye has always giggled a lot especially when she was a baby, so that's my nickname for her.
