Rwby: The Vigilante

Chapter 6

You quickly scan the device looking for some sort of off switch. Yang kneels next to you and tries to calm the kid down. Red calmly walks over to you both, taking his fedora off as he kneels next to you.
"Atlas tech, built for advanced interrogation scenarios. Atlas specialists would attach these to People of interest. I can assure you these things can make a man squeeze blood from a rock, or die trying. There's two needles, after a period of time they will inject two small capsules into the neck of the wearer. Slowly the capsules will dissolve before exploding, just big enough for a small hole, the wearer then bleeds. It's a horrible messy death." He calmly says, pointing at the device
Upon hearing Red, the child starts to shake.
"No, no calm down don't worry I will get it off you" you say reassuringly, smiling to keep him calm
"Yeah, don't worry Y/n will help you" yang adds
"So Red how do we get it off?" You ask, looking at him
"Usually there is a 4 digit code, used after the interrogators have what they want. It's imputed here" he says pressing a button, causing a small 10 numbered panel to unfold. You start to imput numbers, but none work.
"We don't have the code, what do we do?" Yang frantically asks
"Bollocks to this" you yell
You grab it and start to pull, smoke envelops the device and your arms. You grunt as you try and snap it off. Suddenly it breaks, and the child runs and hugs Yang. Red chuckles while shaking his head.
"Look at that, why use a scalpel when a sledgehammer does it just as well" he smiles
"Why do we do with the kid?" Yang asks
"I have a contact in Vales police department, I'll have someone pick him up" Red says, nodding to Dembe
Dembe pulls out a scroll and starts typing.
"I will stay with the child, and you two should head back to Beacon. Don't mention this to your teachers or Ozpin. I'd rather not dance with him just yet, while my shoes don't fit" he says smiling
"Alright, but find me when you find anything that could help us" you say, throwing the broken device in the bin
"What do you guys do, email each other?" Yang quips, Red laughs in response
"No my dear. I don't have a email, a scroll or an address. I prefer a good face to face than the anonymity of technology" he places his hat on his head before continuing "well this has been fun, what do we say to a nice dinner? How about tomorrow night?" He says smiling.
"Sure thing" you say
"And will your lady friend be joining us? I can assure you the food is simply to die for" he says smiling
"Why would I? Y/n trusts you but I don't" Yang angrily says
"Because it will be fun, and if you need an ulterior motive, we can discuss the next move in finding the people who did this" Red replies
Yang sighs before nodding.
"Fantastic, I'll let you know the times. But for now you should be in your way" he says gesturing to the door.
"Alright this man will look after you" Yang says to the child
The child walks cautiously over to Red, who gently places a hand on the child's shoulder. You wave as you walk out the door.

You arrive back at Beacon with Yang, you both tiredly walk towards your dorms. Yang waves before opening her door, you stop her before she can open it.
"Don't tell anyone about Red, please?" You ask
"Fine, only because I trust what you are doing. Good night" she sighs as she opens the door
"Night" you return
You open your door and walk over to your mask, you place it on, the HUD switches on.
"Any crimes or villages at risk?" You quietly question
Negative.
You sigh and take it off, you take off your holster and unscrew the suppressor, hiding it in your bag. You flop onto your bed and close your eyes.

You awaken to your alarm, which you quickly switch off. You get up have a shower and get dressed before heading towards the cafeteria. Other students have already starting queuing and eating their breakfast. You step into the queue, yawning.
"Y/n!" Someone squeals before leaping onto your arm
You lift up your arm and see the smiling face of Ruby
"Hi" she quietly greets, gently swinging on your arm 
"Morning Ruby" you softly smile, causing her to giggle
"I haven't seen you since class! Did you miss me? Did you miss me?" She excitedly asks, kicking her legs and swinging
"Sure I did" you laugh, ruffling her hair with your hand
"I'm so glad to see you, what are you getting for breakfast? Huh? Huh?" She quickly asks
"I don't know. You're awfully energetic today" you say
"Yeah, it's sparring today!" She shouts, gaining the attention of everyone in the hall
"Oh yeah?" You smile
"Yeah, no more small talk. My baby can do all the talking" she smiles
"I'll have to be honest, I wouldn't want to tangle with your scythe" you say, walking slightly closer to the serving window
"Maybe Goodwitch will pair us!" She excitedly screams
"Heh, maybe. You should calm down, you're not making a good first expression on everybody" you laugh
Her eyes widen and she drops to the floor, allowing you to lower your arm
"Sorry" she quietly says, tapping her index fingers together
"Hey, I didn't mind it" you say, nudging her arm lightly.
You both get breakfast before sitting down at a table, you both start to eat your food, the remaining members of RWBY and team JNPR join your table. You all eat your food while Ruby tells stories about the many times Yang has lost her temper due to her hair being touched. Soon it is time for Glynda's class.
