Rwby: The Vigilante

Chapter 3

You hold your hands out in front of you, dust and smoke starts swarming around you. Ruby walks towards you, still facing the Grimm. You wrap your arm around her as the smoke and dust grows thicker. Ruby turns around and buries her face into your chest. The dust and smoke form a spiral around you both, growing thicker and denser with each second. The Grimm pounce and start to get closer. The sun barely penetrates the cloud, the friction from the dust swirling around in the smoke causes brief flashes of lightening. Suddenly Ruby hears the yelps and hisses form the Grimm, growing louder and louder. You lower your free hand and the smoke dissipates, the Grimm area all badly damaged, the dust creating a sandpaper effect to their bodies. They didn't survive, you fall onto your knee.
"Are you ok?" Ruby asks, panicking
"Yes, it just drained me" you respond
"Hey bad time and all that but can I have your autograph?" She asks excitedly
"Later, just help me up please" you respond
She helps you to your feet, she also folds away her weapon. She starts tapping her fingers together like she is about to ask for a autograph again, she is interrupted by screams. You look to the source and see Jaune and Pyrrha running from a Deathstalker and a pack of Beowolves. You look at Ruby
"I've got this, your partner is here" you say gesturing to Weiss who is stumbling out of the tree line.
You change to smoke and dash forwards. Jaune and Pyrrha have been backed into a corner, they ready their weapons for a last stand. Your dash forward and change back, you leap up and land on a tree branch, overlooking the scene before you. You raise your right hand and a smoke spear forms in it. You throw it forwards and it hits the Deathstalker, disappearing on contact. The creature then starts to stumble around, confused. The Beowolves draw their attention to you, they all face you and growl. You pull out your duel M9s and aim. You fire them, each bullet contacts a Beowolf in the face, killing them. You empty your clips and the Beowolves lay dead before you. You jump down and walk towards the pair, Jaune raises his hand
"The, the Deathstalker" he stutters out
You raise your right hand and you clench it, the Deathstalker explodes in a cloud of smoke. The pair put away their weapons
"That was simply amazing" Pyrrha sings
"Amazing, more like awesome!" Jaune exclaims
You nod in response, you start walking north, they run up and start to walk with you.
"Do you have a partner?" Pyrrha asks
"Not yet" you respond
"Hey, err what does your real voice actually sound like?" Jaune awkwardly asks
You don't respond, instead you move a few branches out of your way to reveal an old ruin. In front is a selection of chess pieces.

Chess pieces? Two of each type, matching pairs. This has some thing to do with the team selections, two chess pieces, two partners ahh yes. Two chess pieces together, a team of four.

You walk up to them and take the two white knight pieces. A scream from above draws your attention, you look up and see Ruby falling. You open your arms and catch her, she looks at you and laughs awkwardly.
"Where is Weiss?" You ask
She looks up, you follow her gaze and see Weiss holding onto a Nevermore's feather.
"I told you to let go!" Ruby yells
You place her on the floor. You change to smoke and soar towards the Nevermore, Weiss is screaming. You change back and land on its back, you crouch down and offer your hand to Weiss
"Need help there princess?" You ask, the modifier removing the smugness
She takes your hand and you hoist her up onto the back of the bird. You turn around and you form two sharp whips. You slash the wings of the bird causing it to fall dramatically out of the sky, your whips disperse. You grab Weiss and cradle her in your arms as you fall. She screams and buries her face in your chest, you form smoke clouds beneath you. They start to slow you down and you land on the ground with a puff of smoke. It clears showing Ruby, Jaune, Pyrrha, Yang and Blake.
"Yang, Blake" you greet, standing up
They wave back, but they look confusingly at Weiss who's face is still buried into your chest. Her hands are gripping clumps of your coat on your back.
"As much as I'd like to carry you princess, I don't think it would help your family image if I did" you say, looking at her
She slowly lets go of you and stands up, she blushes
"Chess pieces?" She asks, trying to hide the blush.
"Here" you say throwing them the pieces
Yang and Ruby catch them, they look at you quizzically
"Trust me" you say
A shout from the tree line draws all your attentions, you see a Ursa collapse with a Ginger haired girl on top of it
"Aww I broke it" she sighs
