I sat down on the bleachers watching the cheerleaders practice while the foot all team struggled to get their drills in order. There was no wind in the air, it was just humid and sticky. Despite it all, I was happy. Everything seemed to be returning back to normal.
Diana had disappeared, moved to Key West to live with her aunt. According to Giselle blabbering and betraying mouth. Her parents got wind of her activities and they decided to send away.
Jackson, was off my ass. I would hardly see him at school. And when I did it would be a brief five seconds of intense stares and glares. He'd always be the first to tear his gaze away. Always.
Enough time had elapsed and Zoey was feeling much better. Although she still had a subtle limp. Sh struttered her stuff like no one was watching. Zoey was almost back to her old self.
Zada was still her old self but her bitchy ways had significantly decreased. She was so much more sensitive, smart and cautious than she was before. The experience had taken it's toll on her and thus she felt she was forced to change.
Clay and I had finally mend all the bridges. He forgave me and I forgave him. We were cool, and the attraction that I felt, that he felt. It was stronger than ever. Was it to soon to make a move. I mean not much time had passed since the events began, but then again. We've know in each other for the better part of two months.
I tilted my head to the side as tried to settle my internal argument. My eyes wondering the field, on the east end. I caught sight of Joel and Zada walking across the field. It wasn't unusual for me to see them together. But was the strange thing was to see Joel take Zoey's hands, spin her around and kiss her, square on the lips.
"Well I'll be damned! Finally!" I say out loud.
I sat up straight in my seat. My boring stakeout had just gotten so much more interesting.
The two danced around the field like they were in a ballroom. I could see that they were happy. And after the events of the last two months. They diserved it. Zoey deserved to be happy.
I heard footsteps behind me. I figured it was Zada. She called me minutes ago asking me were I was. She was probably coming to meet me.
The footsteps hot closer, then settled next to me. In anticipation, I turned about to blurt out Zada's name. That's when I was face to face with-
"Clay? What-"
"Expecting someone else," he says picking up my words.
All I did was nod.
"How'd you know I was there?" I ask brushing hair out of my face.
There was a sudden gale, that wiped around us. Lifting my hair off my shoulders. Clay's hair, gloriously moved with the wind. It looked amazing.
"Zada told me," he says watching my hair fly in the wind.
The air felt good. Taking some of humidity out of the air. It cooled me down and I felt better.
"Right. That's why Zada called me," I say looking at him from the side.
"Yeah," he answers softly.
It sounded like he had something to say to me. I could here it in his voice. So I decided to ask him.
"So, what's up?" I ask him turning my body to face him.
He shook his head slightly. "Nothing. I just wanted to see how you're doing. I can't imagine the things that must be going through your mind."
Oh. He knows me so well. Almost like he knew me forever. He was right. The things that were going through my mind is enough to make any sane person put a gun in their mouth and pull the trigger.
