What the hell just happened?

I guess I spoke too soon about the Back to Normal thing. I literally just saw Jackson get tossed across the cafeteria by a sober Joel. I didn't even understand. And the way Zoey just stepped in and protecting Jackson like that. Something was up. Zoey has been lying to me.

As soon as I saw the principal rear his ugly head and the monitors coming, I decided it was time to leave.

"Come on Zada. Let's go find our friends."

Zada nodded, sprang to her feet following me through the crowd. We were about to reach the exit when I caught sight of some kid raising a finger to point at Zada and I. Quickly I opened the exit and ran out with Zada following closely behind.

"Phew, that was close," Zada breathed nearly falling to the ground.

"Hey there ladies," a familiar British accent rang.

We both jumped but Zada fell over and to a face plant onto the ground. Thank God it was soft grass.

"Jesus Clay," I complained holding my chest.

Clay came over up helped Zada off the ground while simultaneously giving me a smirk. Stupid little me, I blushed.

"What the hell are you doing back here?" Zada asked while dusting off her clothes.

Clay gave us an obvious look, but then when we didn't get what he was trying to signal, he got annoyed and answered Zada's question.

"Obviously, I saw the commotion. So I followed Zoey and Joel out here when I saw them leave the cafeteria."

I eyed Clay extremely annoyed, "So where are they?" I ask.

He smirked faded away. Then he looked over in the direction of the field. Across it and to the bleachers. I saw too small figures disappeared under the opening. It had to be them.

"Thanks Clay," I say turning around to head there.

But before I sprinted away, I felt his hand grip my arm. He spun me around just as he had did that day at Zoey's. He made me face him looking me in the eyes.

"Careful Zana. I feel that Zoey is about to drop a bomb on all of you."

We were so close, I could feel his breath in my face. Our nose almost touched. His eyes were filled with pure passion. Also, I detected something else. Like he was hiding something, like he'd been hiding it for a long time.

"O-h okay," I say slowly wiggling from his grip.

I took Zada's hand and we took off running across the field. We had to get their in time. I had a feeling Clay was right. The way Zoey behaved in their, the way she held up her hand and used her body as a shield to protect Jackson. Something wasn't right at all.

We reached the bleachers in record time. We pretty much barged in on their conversation. Zoey looked very surprised.

"Wh-at are you guys doing here?" she asks stammering.

"I could ask you the same thing," I retort.

Zada took a deep breath in before she said her share. "We were worried about you guys. So we came looking okay."

Zoey's eyes were wide open. The veins in her neck was popping out. She was nervous. I've never seen her like this. Their was something she had to say that she didn't want us to hear. But I was going to stay until she divulge.

I approached her, holding out my hand and grabbing her forearm. Then I looked her in the eyes. But she avoided my gaze looking at everyone else without looking at me.
