Definition of personification:
the attribution of a personal nature or human characteristics to something non-human, or the representation of an abstract quality in human form.Explanation:
Giving an object human characteristics.
Such as: the wind whistled, the car screamed.Effects:
Can create tension because it might feel like the character is surrounded. Or alternatively it can create a sense of safety that the character is surrounded my friendly objects. This works well in fantasy books or horror books. From personification we can have anthropomorphism and zoomorphism.
Definition of anthropomorphism:
Giving an animal human characteristics. For example: Winnie the Pooh and peter rabbit. In books there is the 'call of the wild' that talks about buck the dogs life.Definition of Zoomorphism:
Giving a human animal characteristics. Not to be confused with it's opposite. Examples include 'of mice and men' which often talks about Lennie's paws, when in reality they're hands. I swear there's also a film about a man who turns into a dog but I can't remember it's name, it was a kids film does anyone know?Using things like these can help make your work stand out and makes it more interesting because it's so different from other books. It also can make a character seem inhumane, during suspenseful times, or add a comedic effect o a book. It can also appeal to a reader here on wattpad because it's quite rare.
