You are the owner of a dog farm in northern Kentucky.
What system do you run? Do you sell dogs, breed dogs, train them for competitions, or do you do a mix of those things? How many breeds do you own? Are you a pedigree breeder?
How do you treat your dogs? If your a breeder, do you breed them safely? Do you know how many times a bitch can be bred before retired? How do you treat your retired dogs? Where are their kennels located, how big are the spaces, and how do you divide dogs? Do your dogs get enough exercise?
What competitions do you enter? Gunner dogs? Retrievers? Cart dogs? Mushing? Ratting? Obedience? Dancing, like freestyle dogs? Can the area where your pretend kennel lives do the sports you want to train in? (For example, you can't part take in mushing if you live in Kentucky!)
These questions are things I'll go over. The main part of this "kennel" thing is we pretend to own dogs in kennels, and it's fun to do because you can trade, adopt, and breed litters with other users who own kennels!
Q&A
Q: How many breeds are you permitted to have?
A : I'd start off with two breeds, a stud and bitch for each. Four dogs in all, and than, as you have these litters and sell the puppies to other kennels, and you slowly begin to grow fame in your kennel, I'd slowly gain more dogs. (For your first dogs, in their forum put "starter dogs". If you have puppies from those starter dogs, than you would put their sire and dam of the starter dogs names. OR if you get a puppy from someone's kennel, then you would put their sire and dam on the dogs forum instead of starter dog. DO NOT SELL STARTER DOGS) To learn more, go onto the Starting Out Chapter.
Q: What sports are their for my dog?
A : Depending on the breed depends on the sports your dog can enter. If you mean in general what sports are out there, than lets just say this; there is many, many catagories to choose from! It may be easiest to pick a breed and see what sports the breed is known for part taking in.
Q : How many times can I breed a dog?
A : In real life, I'd only say a very few times, but I'm not sure because I'm not a dog expert! But for this role playing type of book, I'd say 3-4 times. Remember to space the litters out though, and you NEED to get rid of all the puppies in their litter (by holding the puppies as adoptables, trading them with other kennels, or giving them as gifts to other kennels) before having another from the same parents (or at least the same mother).
Q : Should I say if my dog is pregnant or not before having the litter?
A : Yes! Not just for baby announcements, but also to let people know to expect more puppers! (If you want to get rid of your pups fast, you can have people reserve dogs before breeding so that you can get rid of the litter)
Q : How long should Dogs be pregnant for?
A : 1-2 weeks in real time
