"(Y/n)!" "(Y/n), wake up, there's someone at the door for you!"
Can't she get the door for once?
I put on my tropical top, black casual shorts on, and put on my white low-top sneakers and a yellow sporty bag, then rush to answer the door.
"Guess who!"
"Uh... Is it Hau?"
"Yeah! Hi, (y/n)! Oh! Kukui told me to give this to you!" He hands me a red robotic Pokedex... Which seems to be moving? "Gah! It's alive!" I moved out the way, trying to avoid getting injured by a flying robot. "It's fine, (y/n). It won't hurt you, it's a Rotom Dex! It has a Rotom inside it so it can talk to you! It's like another Pokemon Partner! Anyway, you know because we're on the island challenge, do you want to train together?"
"Yeah! I'll just tell my mom."
"Mom! I'm going to train my Pokemon a bit! I'll be back in a few hours!"
"Ok, I need to buy some things for the house anyway. Here, I'll give you some spending money, just don't waste it on anything too stupid!" Wow, 5,000 Pokedollars! I hug my mom goodbye and set off with Hau.
Aw it's nice that he made an effort to do something with me! Even though I have a serious shyness problem around him, I'll just really try to be confident today.
"So where are we going to train, Hau?"
"Hmm, maybe around route 2, around the north bit of Melemele. It's famous for people training their Pokemon there."
"Awesome!" This part of Melemele is so nice, there's a spectacular view of the sea and there's so much plant life about; trees, bushes, etc. I can't wait to see what wildlife I'll see around here...
2 Hours later
Over the past two hours, I've caught a Pichu called Sparky and a Pikipek called Perry. It's been really fun training my Pokemon, and being with Hau, but it's getting dark, so we start to head back. Just as we were passing Berry Fields, I hear a couple of people saying things like "Yo" and "Skull", and I think they're walking towards us...
"Yo! You've got some rare Pokemon! Give them to us! Give us your Litten! The boss would love this!" Hau shot me a worried look before mumbling about how he's the Kahuna's grandson and how he would report it, but the thugs stayed put and demanded a battle.
Hau's Litten looked visibly weak, as we've been training all day, but I couldn't do anything to help. It was really upsetting to see Hau in a situation like this, with his Pokemon partner being taken away from him (because he lost the battle). I genuinely care about him, I can't stand to see him like this, I had to think of something...
"Wait!"
"Huh?" The two skull grunts said,"What do you want? You're wasting our time!"
"Instead of taking that Pokemon, what about this?" I gave them all of my money: 5000 pokedollars.
"Woah! Where'd you get money like this? Yeah, you can have it back, we didn't even need it!" They threw the pokeball back to Hau and ran off, like I would change my mind.
"(Y/n)! Thank you so much!" Hau ran up to me and hugged me,"I was so worried my Litten would be lost forever! That was a lot money you gave to them, thank you for doing all that for me!"
"Oh, no problem..." I was desperately trying to stop myself from blushing. I mean, I've only known him for about 3 days and he's already hugged me! Why am I making this such a big deal? I just saved his Pokemon, I guess I should be proud of myself.
"So, what's the deal with them? Team Skull, was it?" I asked, on the way to the Pokecenter.
"Oh, they've been around for awhile now, well there's this big gang of people - Team Skull - who battle to steal people's pokemon, and just generally cause havoc around Alola,"
"Alola? So, the whole 4 islands?"
"Yeah, they're quite a big deal. At least they don't do anything too serious. Hey, do you want some malasada?"
"Huh? What's a malasada?"
Hau looked shocked.
"You're joking, right? Malasada is only the BEST THING EVER!" Wow, I guess he likes malasada.
"Yeah, ok!"
"I'll pay, of course because used up all of your money to save Litten! It'll be my treat!" When we get to the Malasada store, the smell of baking fills my nose; vanilla, sugar, jam, chocolate... it's like every single sweet thing is in this building!
"5 sweet malasadas, please!"
"Hey Hau! Okay, 1,000 pokedollars please!" The cashier smiled.
"Oh, who's this?"
"This is (y/n)" Hau gestured to me.
"Hello!" The cashier handed us a tray of 5 donut-like pastries dusted with sugar. We sit by the window and start eating. When I first bite into the malasada, flavour floods my mouth - the sweetness on the top compliments the warm pastry under it, and the strawberry (is that an Alolan berry? It is now) jam is so delicious!
"It's good, isn't it?" Hau said, starting to eat his third one. Wow, he wasn't kidding when he said he liked it!
"It's delicious!" I say, with jam probably all around my mouth.
5 minutes later, and they're all gone.
We walk back to route one and I hear Hau giggling. "What?"
"Y-your face!" He managed to say before bursting into laughter. I try to say something else but his laugh is so infectious I start laughing too. A few minutes later, when we stop laughing, he says "You've got jam all on your cheek!"
"Where?" I say, trying to point to any part of my face.
"Wait, let me do it!" He gets his thumb and gets the jam of my face. Oh, and his face is really close to mine, and I feel my cheeks burning. Now is not the time, (y/n)!
"Thanks, Hau!"
"No problem. G'night, (y/n)!"
"Night, Hau!" I shout, and walk into my house.
"Welcome back, sweetie! How was your day?" My mom said.
"Good, I tried some malasada today!"
"Nice! I've had some before, and they're delicious!"
"Sorry, mom. I'm actually really tired, I'm just gonna go to bed. Goodnight, Mom!"
"Goodnight, sweetheart!"
I fall to sleep definitely not thinking of that moment Hau got the jam off my face.
