Your POV
6pm the next day
*Knock knock knock*
"(Y/n), is that the door?"
"Ok, I'll get it." I quickly put on an outfit before answering the door: a white v-neck top, some light blue, frayed denim shorts, white strappy sandals and a white sporty bag.
"Hey! Are you going to the festival?" Hau said cheerfully, how does he know where I live? Maybe it's because it's the only house on route one...
"Oh, there's a festival? Yeah, sure, I'll just tell my mom, I'll be right back."
"Mom! I'm going to a festival! I'll be back in a few hours!"
"Okay, honey. Have fun!"
"Right. Where is this festival?"
"It's just up here, in Iki town!"
We walked up the route I went up yesterday, but I can see lanterns lighting up the entrance to Iki town.
"Wow, this place is... beautiful!" I stared in awe.
"Yeah, me and my gramps spent the whole day decorating!"
"So what do we do here?"
"Oh, has no one told you? We're going to battle!" He gestured to the stage,
"Two 11 year olds battle on this platform to show our respects to Tapu Koko! And, guess what? You and I are going up there to battle!" He said excitedly. I've never seen anyone so excited for a Pokemon battle before!
"Oh wow, okay, when does the battle start? I haven't done much training, I've just been unpacking so-"
"It's fine, I haven't either! As long we both have a good time, then I think we can call it a great battle, eh? Oh, and the battle starts now!" He ran to the stage, taking me by the hand. Oh my gosh, he's holding my hand! No, no, no, no, no, you like him as a friend. He's just bringing you to the stage, so chill! I better not be blushing...
"Hey, (y/n)!"
"Hello, (y/n)" Kukui and Lillie were waving at me, I gave a little wave back before letting out my first Pokemon...
After the battle (you beat Hau)
"Phew... That was awesome, (y/n)! You've got such a strong bond between your Pokemon already!" Hau smiled, putting his arms behind his head, as he always does.
"That reminds me!" Hala walked up to the platform, handing me a greyish-white bracelet. "I think it is time you take this, (y/n)." What is it, though? "This is your Z-ring, a mysterious armband that can bring forth your Pokemon's Z-power" Nice, but what's Z-power? I guess I'll find out later, I feel rude if I ask.
2 hours later, and I think the festivals pretty much over, so I decide to leave. I say my goodbyes to everyone as I head out. But I still haven't seen Hau when I was leaving Iki town, I feel like I should've told him I was leaving, as he did bring me here. Where is h-
"Hey, (y/n)!" Oh, there he is! "Are you leaving already? But this festival is so much fun! It's fine though, you can go whenever you want. Do you want me to walk you back? It's not very safe to walk in the dark by yourself" He said as he walked, not really giving me a choice, I would have said yes though. Because he's really nice, and I like him as a friend, so stop saying otherwise, (y/n)!
"We had a really great battle back there, didn't we, (y/n)? I had a blast fighting you!"
"Y-yeah, it was good, I guess" I'm never this shy with people, what's wrong with me?
"You ok, (y/n)? You look all tense, what's wrong?" Said Hau, looking genuinely concerned. Great. "No, I'm fine, really, it's nothing."
"Are you sure? You don't look fine. Wait, I said that wrong! You do look fine! Shoot, I didn't mean that either! You look nice, i-its just that you look a bit nervous!" Is he blushing? No, I'm probably just imagining that, its's really dark so- I think he is, he's turning away... "No, I'm fine, thanks." I mumble, following a lot of awkward silence , which is really different to what he's normally like. 'what he's normally like' it sounds like I've been looking at him this entire festival! Which I wasn't, I really wasn't.
Wow, this is awkward, thank goodness we're near my house.
"Bye" we say, at almost the same time. He gives me a little smile before walking off.
"Hi, (y/n! I made (favourite food) for dinner! Hope you're hungry! Or that you didn't eat at the festival!" Mom chirped.
"So... How was the festival?" She said, literally 5 seconds after I took my bag off. "Yeah, it was really good! I got to battle Hau on this big stage thing, there was lots of people there, I think pretty much the entire island went. When it started getting dark, Hau walked me back to here!"
"Ooh, anything happening between you two?" She said, raising her eyebrows. "Nothing! Nothing. Me and Hau? Psh, no..." trying desperately to stop myself from blushing.
"Okay, I'll change the subject. Oh wow, you ate that (favourite food) fast! Well, you better get to bed then! Its almost midnight! Not sure why we just had dinner. I guess when you're hungry, you gotta eat!" She smiled, trying to make conversation, and failing.
"Night, mom!"
"Goodnight, (y/n)"
As I try to go to sleep, my thoughts flood my mind: do I see him as just a friend? Should I tell him how I feel? I don't even know if I like him in that way, I mean, it's not like I'm keeping myself up thinking about him or anything...
