"(y/n)!" "(y/n) wake up!" I heard my mom shout. Is it morning already? I thought, putting on my slippers to go to breakfast.
"You were out like a light, weren't you? I made some (Favourite Breakfast) for you today. It is a quite special day today!"
"Hm?" Oh my gosh, how did I forget? I'm getting my very first Pokemon today! I quickly finished my breakfast, and tried to find an outfit. I guess all of my clothes are still in my bags, so I'll just wear the clothes I wore yesterday; a beige flower-print top, some green casual shorts, and my nylon shoulder bag (oh yeah, in this story you're a girl)
"(y/n)! Can you get the door?" Already? I quickly put on my casual cap and trekking shoes before answering the door.
"Hey there, (y/n)! The name's Kukui. Good to meet you, cousin!" A man with a white hat and shirt with grey shorts came through the door. "Okay, let's get a move on to the next town over, cousin! Time for you to meet the Island Kahuna and get yourself a Pokemon, yeah!" Wait, what's a Kahuna? "Yeah, Kahunas are these crazy-strong trainers only found in Alola, cousin!" he explained, as if he knew what I was thinking, he probably gets asked that question a lot by tourists. "So let's get going to Iki Town! Time for you to get a Pokemon from the Kahuna, oh yeah!"
"Bye, Mom!"
"Bye! Have fun, (y/n)!"
Wow, this place looks so much better at daytime! But there's a lot of tall grass about, hopefully I won't get attacked by any wild Pokemon on the way there! I guess it won't matter once I get my first Pokemon...
"And we're here! Huh? We were supposed to meet everybody right here. Just wait here and I'll look for the Kahuna, yeah."
30 Minutes later, and he's still not come back, I guess it would be nice to look around Iki town. I look at the view in front of the three houses beside me, when I heard someone running. A boy with green-brown hair and a black shirt went up to me.
"Hey! I haven't seen you before, are you the new one from Kanto?" How does he know that? "Um, yeah,"
"Hi, I'm Hau!"
"I'm (y/n),"
"Wow cool name! I bet you're looking for my gramps. I think he's coming up to Iki town now! Where were you guys supposed to meet?"
"Oh, um just around here, somewhere."
Uh, why am I rambling so much?
"Hey! (y/n)!" Kukui was with two other people, someone who I assume is the kahuna: an elderly man with a yellow-orange shirt over a white shirt and a formally dressed blonde-haired girl, who looks about my age.
"This is the kahuna, Hala, and this is my assistant, Lillie" He gestured towards the two people
"I am glad to meet you, child" Said Hala.
"Oh, um, nice to meet you" mumbled Lillie, tugging at her bag.
"Okay, so we've all met. Now it's time to choose your Pokemon partner, yeah!"
"Come on, my Pokemon. Let's have a look at you!" Hala threw three poke balls at a wooden platform.
"First is the grass-type Pokemon, Rowlet!" A small green bird twirled around. "Next is the fire-type Pokemon, Litten!" A black and red cat meowed at me. "And last is the water-type Pokemon, Popplio!" A blue seal with a reddish nose clapped its flippers.
"Which Pokemon will you choose as your partner, (y/n)?"
"I choose... Popplio!"
"Only when you have both choose each other can you truly call h other partners. So let us see if little Popplio also decides to choose you!"
I walked up to the platform, and Popplio seems fairly happy to see me, she barks and jumps into my arms, aw, she's adorable!
"Having accepted one another, you'll surely be friends for life!" Kukui smiled.
Later
It's getting dark, so I decide to go home, then I see something come out of Lillie's bag. "Pew!" This purple-blue cloud flew about, getting worryingly close to a cliff edge. "Nebby! Get in the bag!" Lillie ran towards 'Nebby' but suddenly a small group of Spearows started to circle Nebby. "(Y-y/n)! Save Nebby!" I ran as fast as I could towards the helpless Pokemon, but it kept edging further and further away. I jumped to catch it, only just realising that I, as well as this terrified Pokemon, was falling down the cliff.
Wow, my first day and I'm already seconds from death. I closed my eyes and held the Pokemon tight when I heard a loud "Tapu ko-ko-ko-kooo!!!" And I felt something hold me and bring me back up to where I fell. Is this Tapu Koko? As I saw it fly away, I noticed a shiny stone near me, and it felt warm to the touch. "Oh...Oh, thank goodness! I thought you were gone! This is why you stay in my bag. I know it's not very comfortable but it keeps you safe. And thank you so much, (y/n), is it? I was so worried!"
"Was that Tapu Koko?" Hala shouted.
"Oh, um, yes, Kahuna Hala. Nebby was being attacked by Spearows near that cliff edge, there, when (y/n) ran over and saved it! But she fell in the process, and Tapu Koko saved them!"
I felt my stone in my pocket get warmer, since when do stones get warm? I thought they were always cold...
"Hm? (Y/n)... would you be so kind as to give me a look at that sparkling stone over there?"
Hala closely examined it, mumbling things like, "Could it be?" "She was rescued by Tapu Koko..." "Maybe it was meant to be..."
"I'll look at this a bit more tomorrow, fret not! I'll give it back tomorrow."
"Okay, I should be going now anyway, goodbye" I said, waving to them as I walked back to my house.
"Welcome back, (y/n)! Oh, don't keep me waiting for any longer, who did you choose?" Said my mom, from the kitchen. Popplio leapt out of my pokeball, cheerfully clapping its flippers, " Aw, you're Popplio is so cute! What did you name it?"
"Oh! Um... Poppy. Yeah, Poppy!"
"Well you better get some rest now, you've had a very big day today."
"Night mom!"
"Goodnight, (y/n)!"
