Ashanna rode beside Jon during their journey.
She was advised by her Uncle Benjen to keep her hood up to hide the fact that she was female, while they travelled. Ashanna gave him no heed. She just wanted to feel the wind flow through her hair.
She wore a brown leather tunic over breeches. She had a wool shirt under her tunic to keep her warm. A fur cloak was wrapped around her, to keep her warm.
She didn't mind the cold, Winterfell had seen snow quite often. When they rested Ashanna would lay, surrounded by her father's men. Winter would sleep beside her, keeping her warm.
They only stopped a few times. Ashanna didn't mind. She enjoyed the journey.Castle black was in sight now. They had to pass through a wood. Ashanna rode at the rear of the group. Winter walking beside her.
Ashanna stared ahead until her wolf's howl made her stop. Winter was slightly of the track, her head buried in snow covered bushes. Jon gave her a curious look. Ashanna shrugged her shoulders. She got off her horse. Frost walked behind her as she walked to the wolf.
Behind the bush was 4 wolf pups crying to their dead mother. The she wolf had an arrow in her heart.
Ashanna debated in her head whether or not she'd take in the pups. But when she looked at Winter her decision was made. Winter was carrying a completely grey pup in her mouth.
Ashanna knew her Lord father wouldn't approve. But Ashanna felt a connection with the pups that she couldn't ignore.
She chastised herself, she had a connection with them because she was a warg.
Despite knowing that this could be a bad idea. She took the remaining three pups into her arms. They nipped at her cheek affectionately...........................................................................................................................................................
Holding a shield in one hand and a training sword in the other, Ashanna dodged another one of Jon's blows. Many of Jon's future brothers were watching them spar. Including Tyrion Lannister who shared their journey North.
Ashanna knew that it would not look well if Jon was to lose to her. So she did what any loving sister would do... She made a misstep on purpose. That one move caused her to be disarmed and Jon to point his sword at her throat. Jon smiled at her gratefully. Ashanna returned it with a smile of her own. She nodded to her brother in respect before turning from him.
She walked to a wooden post where her dark fur cloak hung. She welcomed the heat graciously. She followed her father's men to the lift. Which is what they used to travel to the top of the wall. She held herself tightly to brace against the cold. Her teeth chattered the closer they got to the top.
A clang sounded loudly when they arrived at the top. Ashanna stepped out of the lift quickly.
It was paralysingly cold. The ice she stood on was rough and jagged. The ice walls built onto it were smooth and see through. Cool mist block Ashanna's vision. She watched her breath leave her mouth in mist form mixing with the natural mist.
The path was lit with torches so she could make her way to the edge of the wall.
The cold was bearable now. The only thing that was running through her mind was Jon.
What would happen to him here? It's too cold. It's too far away from their family...
Ashanna glanced down. She was at the same level of the clouds.
She looked down at the snow covered forest that stretched as far as she could see.
The light glistened in the snow seeing little lights shining into Ashanna's eyes.
She smiled to herself. The cold air scraping her throat.
This was truly beautiful.
