"I'm fine. Get off me. I'm the adult here." My aunt slurred. We let go of her and let her fall on the couch.
My aunt was so graciously handed over to me after disappearing to the free bar.
West, Blake, and I struggled to get her safely back home.
She ran into the street- twice- almost flashed a cop, threw up, started fighting with a homeless man, and cried for 5 minutes because she saw a dog.
...It was really a garbage bag.
My aunt is a mess."Binali. Don't tell your mom I let you get drunk." She whispered.
"Aunty I'm not drunk." I sighed.
"I'm not drunk, you're drunk." She said quickly. I share a look with Blake and West then shake my head.
"Okay, aunty. Just sleep it off." I grab a blanket and put it over her. "Do you want anything?"
"You're so bossy." She groans before pulling the blanket over her head.
"Ok, goodnight then."
"Wow, your aunt really knows how to party." West laughed.
I shake my head, "A party of one. How is she one of the most popular art critic? I really don't understand."
"Well, when she's sober she's actually a genius. I'm surprised you wouldn't know that since you're her niece," West comments.
I shrug, "This is the most interaction I've had with her in all my 18 years."
"Really? Doesn't she like come for Christmas? Wait, was she there at the acceptance party?"
"Nope, the last time she came to our house was the Thanksgiving before Kara died."
"Oh...Really?"
My aunt suddenly sits up, "DON'T TELL ME I'M OUT OF ORDER! YOU'RE OUT OF ORDER." She yells out, causing us to jump. Blake, West and I shared a scared expression. We had a silent argument on what to do, and I was nominated to poke the bear.
"A-aunty? Are you awake." I say hesitantly. She opens her bloodshot eyes and grabs me. I let out a yelp and struggle to get out of her grip. Either she's really strong for a 40 something-year-old or I'm just really weak. "Aunty let go."
"Kara! Kara don't listen to them follow your dreams." She urged while shaking me.
"Aunty Diana it's me Binali!"
"Don't worry about Binali Kara, she's fine without you."
"Aunty Diana!" I yell. I squirm out of her grip and land with a thud on the floor. I quickly scramble to the other side of the room then Blake and West come over to me.
"What the hell was that?! Are you okay?" Blake asked worriedly. I glance at my aunt who was now snoring peacefully.
"Yeah, I'm fine, just a little shaken up," I respond. A little shaken up? More like scarred for life.
"I know this may not be the time but, I still can't get used to Blake being so boyfriend-y." West comments. Blake gives West a confused look and I roll my eyes. "What? It's true. Where's the possessive bad boy like in the stories."
Blake and I shared a look then I rolled my eyes again, "we're gonna have to do something about your reading material Westly." I say with a shake of my head.
"Why? What's wrong with it?"
I sigh but a smile pulls at my lips, I really did miss my best friend.
