I trudge into the house, "auntie I'm back." I call out.
"Binali-" I jump slightly at the sound of Blake's voice.
I put a hand over my heart, "Blake, holy crap. What are you doing here?" I ask him.
"We need to talk about your situation." He said. "We're going to the police." He finalized."No we're not. They're not going to do anything anyways. There's no evidence, we have nothing to give them. They're going to say I'm being dramatic and to come back if I get murdered or something."I say in an irritated tone.
"What? That's ridiculous, they can help." Blake insists.
"They can but they won't. I'm not the type of person they help. Unless I'm about to jump off a ledge they're not gonna care. Get it?" I let out a breath. The last thing I need is the police rooting up my past and calling me insane in front of my ex but not ex boyfriend. That would be such a fun experience. Not.
He stared at me a moment then let out a breath, "fine, fine. Let's figure it out ourselves then. This guy is dangerous I know it." Blake says as he crosses his arms.
"You don't know that, you don't even know if its a guy. Could just be one of my old "friends", my bullies always knew how to get under my skin." I shrug.
He shakes his head, "Binali. Work with me. Don't play this down, this is serious. This person is obsessed with you. They're trying to get to you, they want to hurt you."
"I-I don't want to do this. Let yourself out." I let out a breath and turn away from him.
He grabs my hand and stops me, "babe- I mean Binali, just hear me for once. Let's investigate who this could be."
"Blake-"
"Please, I want you to be safe. And the way your situation is right now, you're not safe." He tells me.
I let out a breath and stared at him, I know he wouldn't give up on this. I just need to convince him that I'm fine and then he'll drop it. "Fine. How do you propose that we investigate this? Is there something that you know that I don't know?"
"In most of the letter they mention your sister. There might be some clues, maybe your sister's friends. That would be a good place to start."
"Uh fine, my aunt has some photo albums here with my sister in them," I say as I go toward the bookshelf. I pull out an album then sit on the couch as I flip through it. Blake sits next to me, he stops me on a group photo.
"Who are these people? Where is she?" He asks me.
I shrug and pull out the photo, "uh I only know a couple of these people." I look at the back and seem some names scrawled on the back. Blake quickly took a picture of the names.
"See? Already out to a good start." He looked at me and smiled, then caught himself and cleared his throat. He reached into his backpack and pulled out his laptop, "Let's see..." He said as he typed a few of the names into the search bar. "Look here is the original photo."
"Really?!" I perk up and look at the photo. "Look some of them are tagged," I say as I start to click through their names. I let out a breath, "there is no way it could be this easy." I say in disbelief.
"I mean we still have to go through the lists of people." Blake shrugged.
I nod and pull out my laptop, "let's get to work then."
We were working on going through pictures and drawing up some suspects for a couple of hours when my aunt walked in and saw us together. A huge grin was on her face, "Oh good you kids are back together, we're still on for yoga then, Blake?"
"Uh- this isn't-we're not-" We both stumbled over our words as if we were caught making out.
"Oh damn...well a little awkward oopsies I won't assume next time. Uh Blake you're welcome to stay for dinner we're having chicken parm." My aunt says before scurrying off to the kitchen.
"Sorry about that, you know how she is." I chuckle lightly
He stood up and glanced at his phone, "yeah uh I'll get out of your hair. I'm sure you have plenty of homework. We can work on this tomorrow or something."
My eyebrows scrunch together as I watch him, "yeah, tomorrow or something." I agree. He quickly packs up his stuff before scurrying off. What is his problem? I get that was awkward but it wasn't that bad. I sigh and pack up the pictures before replacing the album. I walk into the kitchen to see my aunt warming up the food she got.
"Did Blake leave? Sorry I didn't realize he was so sensitive. I'll buy him some cookies for the next time he visits." My aunt says.
"Yeah, he'll be alright. He was in a rush he must have forgotten something." I shrug as I sit at the table.
"What were you two doing anyway?" She asked as she set the plate in front of me.
I shrugged again, "I was a little sad about Kara so we were looking at some pictures of her. It was nice, I didn't realize you had so many of them."
"Oh yeah, at least someone gets to enjoy them. I get too emotional looking at her." My aunt sighs, "Well I hope you felt better!"
I let out a breath and looked away, I hope so too.
