"What do you think we should do now?"
I looked at N for an answer, then at Ravi. Ravi opened his mouth to speak but he was cut off. Another loud bang sounded in the trashes and a few fell. Instinctively N stood as a barricade between me and the fallen bins. Ravi had a look of jealousy in response.
"I'll go and look for a place for us to stay."Ravi murmured. He looked hurt and disappeared with just a single clap of his wings.
One of the fallen bins rolled and there had been a small yelp. My heart skipped at beat when I heard it, I pulled N's wings down to get a better view. The bin yelped again, and I immediately ran straight for it. Lying helplessly, the puppy looked at me.
"Oh my GOD IT'S A PUPPY!" I squeaked.
I removed some of the debris on top of the pup and pulled it close to my chest. The poor thing was shivering so much and felt so fragile.
"Mani I don't think that's a good idea." N warned.
"But she's just a vulnerable puppy." I whined. "We can't leave her here alone."
"How do you even know if it's a girl?" He asked.
I lifted up the puppy and checked, "It's a girl." I smiled.
"It's not a good idea because what if its a baby were? Werewolves are things we don't need to deal with at the moment, especially if that's -"
"SHE!" I spat.
" ... If SHE'S an heir wolf, they'll go on a killing spree to find her." N reasoned.
"Well what if she's just a lost puppy that was abandoned, hm? Actual dogs are rare to own these days and I've always wanted a pet." I countered, " Besides, we can't just leave her here alone whether she's a dog or were so I'm taking her with us."
"Mani-"
"I'm taking her and that's final." I said sternly.
N gave me a look of disapproval. Surely it meant a great risk taking the puppy but considering how I've lost everyone today, I needed an extra soul with me. We couldn't leave her with no family, it was cruel and upsetting. My heart ached at the thought of how long she must have been alone.
"I'm gonna name her Tsana." I smiled sweetly as she finally nuzzled against my chest.
"Already, you're giving it a name?"
N raised his brow."Yes, and there's nothing you can do about it." I sassed.
We bickered for a bit more then Ravi cut us short, "I found us a place."
I flashed Ravi a smile of thanks and he smiled back.
"Well I'm not taking you, the weight both you and that mutt are gonna bring are gonna be too much for me." N said.
"Are you really gonna bring my weight back up again?"
I felt my face getting hot. " You son of a bi-" I reached over to strangle the chicken but Ravi took a hold of my waist pulling me back, Tsana yelping in the midst."Mani hold on here," Ravi grunted.
"Hold my puppy, HOLD MA PUPPY." I shouted.
N had a smug look on his face which made me even more mad.
"You sure have a temper," he said.
Bullies were one of the few things I absolutely hated, they always brought down others and didn't care for anyone but themselves. My weight is a major insecurity of mine and the fact that he pressed that button not just once but twice really made my blood boil.
"Why do you have to talk about my weight with that tone?" I spat, " If you were to know, then fine, I hate my thickness but I'm pretty sure you've figured that one on your own. Go ahead, make fun of me. And you call yourself an angel." I swung my fist at him but he caught my arm and swung me in a locked position.
" Just so you know, I'm only stating what I know for sure."
"Let go of me," I screamed at him.
"Uh.. guys...we got company." Ravi warned.
"Hey, let her go!" A male's voice shouted from a distance.
I had enough time to glimpse at the bystander attempting to race to my aid.
"Stop! Leave her alone!" He shouted.
N held me, and clapped his wings. Everything was dark and before I had time to yell back we were standing in front of an aged, abandoned building.
N pulled me inside and he flew us to the ceiling where wide beams stretched throughout the building in layers. Sitting patiently was Ravi who looked at me in concern, with a skirmy Tsana in his arms."That was close," he sighed.
I pushed N's arms off of me and stomped my way to Tsana. Ravi gave me puppy eyes. I scooped Tsana off his arms and made my way to the other side of the building.
"Mani, come back." Ravi said.
"Mani." N huffed.
"I want time alone!" I snapped.
N looked regretful and his eyes told me he was conflicted. It still didn't change how hurt I felt. He crossed the line and I'm not gonna easily forgive him.
"Don't come near me, any of you."
"Mani," his voice cracked.
I ignored him and continued on. A heart breaking pain flashed in my chest, and my body felt a stinging numbness. He hurt me and it didn't help that I had lost my family today. A tear fell down my cheek and I wiped it off. I tried to fight the growing sob that wanted to escape my throat but I had failed.
Eventually I had to stop my tracks and lie where I was. The tears came more as flashes of my parents crossed my mind. On top of the insecurity I felt, sadness came in. The sound of the gunshot replayed and rang my ears making me jump. My heart squeezed when I remembered the silence that followed after. More and more tears fell and my sobbing became more prominent. I had to put Tsana down before I accidentally dropped her from how weak I felt. I felt worse when I was reminded of Kai and Alieah.
"Oh my god." I sobbed.
Tsana crawled to me and nuzzled her nose in my neck. Her fur was knotted and dirty but her body was warm. Although mixed feelings of sadness and regret reigned over me, she gave me a wave of comfort. I sniffled a bit before my eyes felt heavy and I had fallen asleep. The last thing I saw was the familiar face that had became an object of hate to me, then darkness took me away in refuge.
