"Are you sure about this, Lu baby?" Sehun questioned, "Because we don't have to go if you don't have to."
"I don't want to...but I have to. I need to."
Sehun nodded, grabbing Luhan's hand and entering the small cafe. Luhan's heart was racing very fast and he could hardly catch a breath.
Today, he was meeting his real dad. Months that stretched into years for so long that Luhan no longer remembered how he looked like. Honestly, Luhan was alright with it. Sehun raised him and shaped him into the young man he was today. He never once left him alone purposely. Sehun was his daddy and he didn't need anyone else but him.
But on the other hand, he was curious. Why did he leave and why did he never come back?
Questions Luhan felt like he just had to know or else he'll never be truly happy.
Luhan didn't recognize his dad, at all. Sehun was the one to point at the table and drag him to it.
So this is his real dad. Flesh and bones, not in an old picture that seemed to be so unfamiliar to Luhan. This was his dad. The guy that was there for 3 years of his life before leaving without looking back once. This was him. The guy that once vowed to love his mom unconditionally and to protect little, innocent Lu forever. The guy that left his life and never tried to go back in it. The guy that damaged his way of thinking and harmed his mom's heart forever.
Luhan didn't know he had so much anger towards him until he sat right in front of him.
His father had a smile on his face. His eyes red with unshed tears as Sehun gave him a warning look. He agreed to give them a little privacy but he was still inside the cafe; instead, he sat on a table on the other side of the cafe, pulling out paperwork from his company.
They didn't say anything at first, just stared at each other. Mr. Xi with longing and happiness while Luhan was a bit uncomfortable with the stares.
"My, have you grown." Mr. Xi finally said, a tear finally leaving his eye. "You've grown so much."
"Yeah...and you weren't there to watch me grow." Luhan replied, already missing Sehun's hand on his. He was shaking and sweating.
"Lu...I'm sorry, I really am." He apologized, reaching out to hold onto Luhan's hands but the boy quickly moved his hands to his lap.
It was a bit awkward. Mr. Xi slowly retreated his hands to his side of the table as Luhan cleared his throat. "Let's get to the point." Luhan announced. "I heard stories from my mom. How you guys were high school sweethearts. Head cheerleader and quarterback, prom queen and king, what happened?"
"Well...Luhan...just know that I love you and your mom so much. I never planned it this way. I-"
"Don't sugarcoat it. I want to know the truth."
"I...I wanted to run my own restaurant. And your mom had so much faith in me. She was great. She helped me create my own menu and I went to ask permission. Your mom believed I could make it so when the government said no, I lied to your mother about it." Luhan cringed at that. "I saw how your mother jumped with excitement. We spent our money on this fantasy restaurant that can never be. And then you came along and things got more tight for us...economically...
