Chapter 6: Cats Can Still Hurt Dogs

* Rose's POV *

I walked out of my Calculus class and went towards my locker. Next class is with Angel, we take English together. As I opened my locker, I heard a very familiar voice.

??: So you still like him?

Ashley: Obviously. I still can't stand it with her next to him!

Ashley Heatherways. Long time no see.

?? 2: So what are you going to do?

Ashley smirked at her 2 friends.

Ashley: I've heard that Angel got in a band, what if there was a little incident that makes her get out of the band and everyone is against her?

??: Ooooh!~

?? 2: That's smart.

I stomped towards them angrily and they were confused when they saw me.

Ashley: Uh, who are you?

Me: I am sure that we have met before so don't put me that face.

Ashley regained her posture and glared at me.

Ashley: Oh, you're Rose. A "best friend" of Angel.

Me: I am not a "best friend". I am the best friend of Angel. And you know what best friends do? They protect each other. So I am just telling you that you stay away from her because she has had enough of you since that car accident.

Ashley: Oh really? And who would stop me? You? You're even shorter than I am.

Then, as my surprise, I've heard another voice besides me.

Jada: Us.

I looked at my left. I saw Mackenzie and Jada glaring at Ashley.  As they were in front of them, they were the same height as Ashley.

Ashley: Why would you even defend her?     -She said as she laughed a bit.

Mackenzie: Since she is one of us now. Haven't you heard? A dog always defends their herd.

Ashley: What are you, dogs or what?

Jada: Sure, if you want to call it. But then, you are a cat then.

Ashley widened her eyes and quickly regained her posture.

Ashley: Whatever. Cats can still hurt dogs.

I watched her leave, very surprised at the scene I had seen. I looked at them and they smiled at me.

Me: Thanks for doing that.

Jada: No problem at all!

As I saw them a bit more closely, compared to Jada's eyes, Mackenzie's were nervous.

Me: Mack, are you okay?

Mackenzie just smiled weakly and nodded.

Mackenzie: I am fine. Come on Jada. Let's go to our next class.

Mackenzie left down the hallway.

Jada: I don't know what's wrong with her which worries me. She has been like that since Angel sang her song yesterday.
